since LSA has a primary amide group then it can be purified by a method called acid base extraction, macerate mg or hbw seeds to a fine powder and mix with propan-2-ol and leave for a while, collect liquid by straining through a coffee filter or better yet a buchner funnel, repeat with new propan-2-ol to get as much out of the seeds as you can, let the propan-2-ol evapourate off leaving an amberish tar, dissolve the tar in ice cold NaOH solution at ph 10 (it is important for it to be ice cold, monitor the temperature very carefully it must be low or else the amide bond will hydrolyse and you will lose your LSA) the whole step is best done fast as water will also hydrolyse LSA very slowly, add a non polar solvent that is not soluble in water, e.g naphtha, dichloromethane, butane, (swim aggrees that dichloromethane or (pure)butane is the best) shake vigourously the two layers together to form an emulsion, leave for the minimum amount of time possible untill the two layers separate again, and using a separatory funnel of a plastic bag (some plastics dissolve in dichloromethane, check beforehand) obtain the dichloromethane layer, lay in a shallow dish and leave to evapourate, you should be left with crystals that my pink elephant friend tells me dissolve under your tongue with a distinct taste, this is the best method but it is quite easy to get wrong as warm NaOH solution destroys the LSA very quickly
