LSDreamer's First Journal

So over the last week and a half I have been setting up my grow getting everything in order and figuring out what was needed. What I have ended up with are:

2x1000w HPS in 4' Parabolic Reflectors being ran from Phantom Digital Ballasts
1x1000w MH in 4' Parabolic Reflector in a Sun System Galaxy Digital Ballast
8" Extraction fan on a 8" Charcoal Filter
6" Intake being fed to the ceiling with ducting and dispersed evenly
3 16" Circulation Fans Wallmounted
2 T5 Blue Fluro's for supplement on the sides

Strains I hope to be growing if all works out:

11x U2 or EWE2 from clones
3x Deadhead OG from clones
3x Sour Diesel from clones
1x Strain from a seed that I got at a festival 3 years ago, of 11 only 1 made it. I believe they said purple potent x silver pearl. Not sure though. (Very Indica Looking plant, 2-3 nodes high so far)

Problems had along the way, over watering, placement of lights, heat issues and circulation. My last grow consisted of 12 plant aero under a 400w so, this is a tad different. Now that I got through the setup and the overwatering, I need to ride out this bit of nute burn and we should be on our way.

Plan is to train all of the plants for maximum canopy coverage. Going to veg about another 2-3 weeks then switch into flowering. Temps in the room are great as of now, from around 76-81. 81 is what I was getting yesterday with 2x at 1000. Today I added a light and turned them all down to 600 for the first week. Heat is staying at 76 today. Basically going to use this as a place to document my plants growth, mostly for my own purposes because I know if I dont do it here I wont do it anywhere.

Any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. I have been out of the swing of things for awhile now so. Happy to be back though. Will update along the way, but it is getting late and I need to relax

Here is a quick little update just to show progress along the way. I figured try to update at least once a week to show progress.

I am doing this grow more as an experiment. I want to figure out when each strain likes to be veg'd, If the strains like to be trained or not. How much light is needed, 1800 vs 3000w for flower.

Next grow will be about improvements. Of course I want to do the best possible this run, but we will see. I began training them and they are responding great. So far I am leaning towards the pro-mix HP for a medium vs Roots Organics. Although the Deadhead OG that is in a bag of Roots is doing great.

My dog got at 2 of them, so a new gate has been set up. It happened within a 30 min trip to the store unfortunatly. I know not to let her in there anyway, pests etc. The gate is up now though.

Quick question. How much of a difference can the water in my resevoir be for watering. My room is at 76 and my water is at 62 so. Wanted to see If I should invest in a water heater for like aquariums. Thanks

Added 2 new strains today. Local coop got sour flower and durban poison in, 2 strains that I really enjoy. Picked up 2 of each.

Updates on the others. Little bit of a mildew problem still on the U2's. Picked up some recommended fungicide today and will be giving that a run tomorrow. Will edit the name in tomorrow once I get it out of the car. I transplanted 2 Sour Diesel, 2 Deadhead OG, the mystery indica and 2 Sour Flower into 7.5g pots today with Pro-Mix HP as a medium. Watered with my usually nutrient solution.

So thats my update. I plan to upload pics every 5-6 days to show changes for myself and for others to see. Nobody has replied but a few have checked it out so far. Again this is more or less just to see how it goes over time. I know I wont document it otherwise so. Any questions or critiques are greatly welcomed, thanks for your time

you have a much better start than most, i got off to a rolling start too, and at least you know the basics, that will help you in knowing ITS NOT SOME MYSTICAL PLANT.. just a plant..lol

i dont run hydro, but colder is good not freezing.. So i would guess your golden

Thanks alot for the replies man, much appreciated. Not running hydro myself, but I use a 55gal res to water my plants. I keep a water pump at the bottom attachhed to a garden hose, plug it into the wall and your golden. Beautiful dog also. I really want to get my dog adapted to the plants, but people shun the idea I guess in the community. Pests problems etc. I dont know though, she may learn to respect them as much as I do.

Edit** And as for the wiring, that is the next job. I just bought the wire tacks today so, on the next set of updates you should see nicely routed wires everywhere

just fyi, the res wont be needed, by the time you wait between waterings the mixture you had will be spioled, trust me i tried it and fucked shit up all bad man.. just mix up 5 gallons at a time, for those itll be about 5 gallons maybe 7 once a week like 6-8 cups+- each time.. unless im misunderstading you.., i have 2 pumps and the got all clogged and nasty, and shit smelled rank and horrible =)

That is true, I had to wait about 4 days or so inbetween watering. I have them in 7.5g squat pots so, there is quite a bit of water needed, next time though, I will only mix up 25 gallons instead, see how that does me. I did notice the pH rising and have to adjust or that a bit. Much appreciated on that though, I could tell it would be a problem unless I seal the container.

yeah its just easier to mix an pour, i use my barrel as a chair if im not watering... lmao

Quick question to anyone who can answer. If you look in the video here http://vimeo.com/34597963 you can see the height of the lights. Now the room stays around 70 at night and 80 during the day with them at this height. This is the temp on the wall at canopy height. Can I possibly move the lights down for more effectiveness, or will it burn the plants. I am running the 4 foot parabolic reflectors from sun systems. Any responses would be great, thanks.

from what i saw in the viedo, you can drop em al least half the distance.. maybe even more

Going to be buying seeds for the next grow. Ive decided on sensi seeds northern lights and lemon. That should be about 300, so for 200$, what seed pack would anyone here recommend? Looking at attitude, or anywhere that will deliver to CA. Basically am looking for top of the line genetics to breed with. Any tips or responses would be much appreciated.
