lst idea from beginner

alrighty then, newb to lst but i think i have a good idea
1st thing, got a small clone, looks to have rooted growing new leaf and seems healthy, about 4 inches tall
so afraid that i'm going to put too much pressure with the 1st pull and clone is going to come up by the roots(bad)
i have read the into on lst in a sticky, recommends counter tying at the base, idea is to balance the pull at the top with another pull down lower
this is something that seems easy enough in idea, but practice could be a bit trickier - pull needs to be balanced
so here's my plan, going to tape(duct tape) some eyelets around the edge of the pot, just small round metal 'loops'
i plant to tie one end of a string to the lower part of the plant - so far no stress
now thread the string out from the plant to an eyelet, then string comes back across pot to another eyelet that is exactly opposite of the 1st eyelet
now use the other end of string to pull on the plant top
the idea is the 2 pulls are exactly balanced, this should not exert pressure on the roots, which i really don't want to be tugged up
so any thoughts? is this good or just a brain fart?

Found it Racer lol.

Hey Growone, in my grow journal previous to this current one I started off LST, went to SCRoG, had some move problems and had to bloom out with no training.

Anyhow, the best I've found is exactly what you've described or getting a pipe cleaner or plastic coated wire, wrap it around your pinky so you get a cork screw looking thing, and gently wrap that around the baby, once it is secured you can then bend it to your liking, when the plants grows older you can take it off and continue with the more regular LST'ing.

Hope this helps and the explaination isn't too confusing. If you have any other questions feel free to hit me up in my journal or PM me, I'll be glad to help as much as possible.

Edit: Pictures would probably help lol, found my old journal and got these pics from it. The cup that looks like it has two plants was actually a twin plant. Anyhow as you can see these plants were still very young when I started. Hope the pics help out as well.

looks alil somethin like this? heres a pic of my first try at lst it was by necessity but its your basic idea

this is in early flower but yes it does help you get a tighter bend and in a week or so you can remove it(i moved it alil over) and pull again defiently helps if your afraid of breaking the stem or pulling it up but thats the number one rule in lst be careful and lil by lil

Doobieus, kho20 - many thanks for the pics and +rep of course

Doobieus, that is a pretty interesting technique you've got there, looks like a little white anaconda has a hold of your plant! definitely a method i will think about

kho20 - good example of a late lst - i don't think mine will happen at that stage, but that's a good looking plant that was bent late

so far, i haven't started tugging on my little plant yet, a clone that seems to be just taking, or so i hope
the grow log is in my sig if you want to look, but i'll post some pics on this thread as soon as i begin twisting her

well, planning to give my idea a try, just waiting for my clone to get to the right size
pretty small right now, 1 1/2 inches, but this is going to be micro setup, so i think i will start to bend it soon - my plan is about 3 more days which should be around 2 inches
here's the clone which does have a bit of the yellow on top, i think i have that under control, just started feeding and new growth looks green

so took the plunge, didn't go quite to plan, was going to do a one string tie whic would have looped back around from plant top to plant base
didn't like how it was going, so just did a simple tie to the top, gentle as possible - looks ok to me, but feedback welcome
