LST Problems? Questions...

I run two 250watt envirolites, all other companies in this size are crap in my opinion, never had a cfl as good as an envirolite. Small cfl's produce small yeilds so not for me. T5's are the best vegging light i have ever seen too and not just cause i run them. I dont rate small cfl's much, if ya wana go cheap then fine but 4 t5's will kick their ass and at lower wattages!

I got a 125maxibrite, never used it as crap, i have had 125 envirolites and they seemed twice as bright as the maxibrite and longer too. I wish i had hps but i couldnt keep the heat down, 250hps would be the minimun i would ever go down to with awsome results with a 400w and above.

Small cfls are more hassle than they are worth, t5's rock and if you have to have cfls go big and get the right colour spectrum for both red and blue and mix it up so both veg and flower have both light spectrums. Only way i'll ever grow with cfls, are a lot of work. Peace

I LST until the plant stops stretching. Always do bending and tieing the day after or several hours after a watering because they will be more flexible. Some may disagree on this last tip but I remove all the lower growth where the whispy buds form, no sense in wasting energy. I do not manicure after flowering starts though.

Hmmm lets do the math real quick say $3 per 23w cfl 1600lums lets times it by 10 just for fun. So $30 for 16,000 lums now the 250 watt CFL bulbs are 19,500 lumens if it is the 8U bulb & 14,750 if it is a 6U bulb and run around $100. So now we are at $30 for the same lums now lets figure 2 surge protectors say $20 for the both thats $50 now add the needed adapters for another $20 so now you have everything you need to run those 10 CFLs and you will have a even better coverage and it will only cost you $30 per grow after buying your strips and adpaters hmmmm seems like the smaller CFLs are the better way to go and they run cooler also if you hang over the top of the plant just think about it for a second you only use have the light bulb if you do the math you will see you getting more out of the smaller CFL's then that one single $100 one that you HAVE to Switch out every grow. So thats $70 vs over $100. Now think about it for a second you have all the needed things to run said 23w cfl enough to finsih one grow now on the next one all you have to spend is $30 for CFLS so now we are up to $100 for 2 grows and you could only get one in with the 250W for the same price cost you twice as much to run those giant CFLs and in the end you get better coverage with the 23w. T5 is around what 2000 lums per bulb and you dont get into anything special till your running a 4ft 8 bulb fixture and those are not cheap but i do agree that its way better then a 250w cfl the bulbs to replace on those are under $10 each so not bad and you can run 2700k and 6500K in the same fixture. But you cant stick a single bulb in the middle of plants or such like you can with small CFLs. It saves you money to run the little ones not only in energy, coverage and overall output but when you go to replace. I would either go with a bunch of 23w or if i had the money a few CFL with a 4ft 8 lamp T5 anything else is kinda of a waste.

You cant compare lumens from a small cfl to a big one, its got light penetration in that equation, easy to talk lumens harder to talk overall yeild, this is why lots just pay the money and get Hps, t5's have better results per yeild than any cfl big or small just you got to keep em short.

That lumens debate is stupid cause i want big fat buds not lots of small wispy ones, also cfl's lie about there lumen output, is common knowledge that they over exagerate everything.

I run 2 x 250w cfl's cause thats the yeild i want, cant run an hps or i would and 400w minimun at the least. Peace
