LST yields - a small comparison

i've just run a couple of fairly good LST's
the last one was of a nl#5 from hgs(pics attached), been run from reveg/clone 3 times
grew in 1.2 sq ft chamber with 78w of cfls(micro grow)
interesting part is both LST's have given me about 28g of dry bud
good result for micro grow, not spectacular
doing an untrained grow of the same clone and in the same chamber and same soil nutes gave 35g
the LST was actually vegged longer than the untrained grow
so i've seen LST touted as being a more efficient method(closer to light, etc.)
but i question this, LST is a better stealth method, not so sure on yields
here's the LST pics(2 gal pot), inside chamber and right before the harvest, just to show it was a decent LST

Thanks for the link, that lst came out pretty uniform and looks like there should be more product. Can't wait to pop my NL#5. Enjoy joy that premium smoke. Would you go with High Grade again?

definitely worth another try, actually i do have a pack of his mixed 'super strains'
just popped out 1 bean, should be sprouted by end of the week

Thats weird, my lstd plants always give me more bud, but when you lst, then u have to make sure that your lights are as much close to the buds as u can get and even have some vertical lighting, then its sure to give you more...
Anyways mann, its good to see your tube back in growing those sweet plants..good luck with that one seed man...

^^^ that's what i've heard grow space, i did have the cfl's real tight to the bud
even burned a bud tip, kind of the price you pay to keep them up close
the untrained grow had a large main cola that had a lot of heft, that's my guess where the difference in yield came from

I have to wonder if the difference here was not simply in the genetics of the plant. After all, the lst should not influence the size of the main cola right. It is just as close to the light as the main cola on the regular grow. Unless lst stresses the main cola out and stunts growth?

i think that is exactly what LST does, redistributes the growth to side branches
the main cola loses bulk, the side branches gain, that's what i saw in this grow anyways
not unhappy with what i got, i don't need all that much, just was kind of curious what others have seen in head to head comparisons
this was the exact same genetics grown in same setup/nutes, and i haven't noticed another grow comparison like it

is that a regenerated plant on your picture just 1 cola no branches im curious

if that's from journal pics, it was from seed, not revegged
