i'll use new heatsinks as the fixture. I'm going to start with a 12 cob 3X4 bar unit. Each bar will be 4 CXB3590 3500K CD 36V @ 1.4A and 1 HLG-185H-C1400 driver.Which apparently equals 110.3 PAR W covering 6ft² = 824 PPFD. im going to put it in a 4X4 area... so more PPFD??

Pretty sure that's correct, it's a post from Supra and he seems to know his stuff!

You said each bar has 4 3590s running at 1400mA... How many watts does each one of those bars run at?

I built a ton of modules, all of which run 4 x CXB3590 72V on a Meanwell HLG- 185H-C700B. The B model has wired for termite dimming, calling them gives an extra 8% output, for a total of 824 PPfD over 6 sq ft. Each module pulls 225W from the wall.

Therefore, four of my modules add up to the 16 COB array you're suggesting. 225 x 4 = 900W. I'm running mine four to a 4' x 6' = 24 sq ft trellis, or 37.5W/sq ft all up.

Having just set the thing up with plants this very morning, I can tell you it's uncomfortably bright without some pretty serious shades on.

Ima have to do something different and use the 36v version of the 3590s or something cause if youre already running at 700mA im not going to be avle to drop that wattage under 600w and still run the 16 cob setup i want..... I think ima look at doing 16 of the 36v 3590s and run them close to 1050mA maybe a bit higher im pretty sure when i was crunching numbers that brought me close to around 550w.....
.....im just trying to talk to as many of you more experienced guys on here as i can and get as many opinions and parts combos as i can to see what my best options are lol

For what my end goals are i need each build to be under 600w hopefully closer to 500w i couldnt do 675.... And just cause im a little ocd and how i have my dwc set up i NEED IT to be a 16 cob setup lol i have to have 4 3590s per plant and 1/ft sq lol .....trying to find the best cob/driver combo that will put out most lumens possible between 500-600w
...now im assuming the cxb3590 is the way to go for the 16 cobs no matter what.... Just seems to be the best product with the best efficacy especially run low current... But with what drivers? At what current to hit my goal watts?
Or am i wrong and can i get more lumens from the same amount of wattage using 16 3070s at at different current?
I dont like to assume since im so new to the diy led world. .. Thats why im on here reading every day trying to pick peoples brains and watch the masters at work

Yooooooo! so im back on RIU, and i've ordered some Quantum Boards to apologise for my absence. Hope everyone is very well.

I'm so excited about the QB leds. 4 boards, 4 slate II and 2 drivers will be on it's way very soon!! (:

I never ended up buying any cobs but ive had great success with the Budmaster panel/ hps combo - i'll post some pics.

These were popped during thanksgiving in November. Short Ryder autos " more like large ryder lol". Just letting them do there thing, I have a Papaya on deck.
