Hey whats up everyone. So I have never used this feature yet since I got my Ballast. I was wondering if anyone has experience with using the super lumens feature and how to use it. Meaning do it switch it when the bulbs already on or wait untill it cools down the switch it to super lumens and fire it up. Also I have a shitty Slyvania( or how ever its spelt) bulb and its not one of the expensive ones so will that play a factor.
Thx all.
Happy growing

I have a 400 watt version with a 600 watt bulb plugged in and set to super lumens. I think it'll trash a rated bulb set to super lumens which is I use a step above in the bulb wattage.

Edit: You should let the ballast/lamp cool before re-igniting.

Depends on the ballast, on my Solis Tek you can just flip the switch from 1000 to super lumen after the bulb is warm. Has soft dimming also, flip the switch from 1k to 600 after it's warm and it slowly dims... pretty neat. Super Lumen reduces the life of the bulb but kicks out an extra 10-15% wattage or so.

Super lumens setting is best used once the bulb has reaches the end of its life. Once you have used the bulb for several grows and the lumen count has dropped by 20% you can flip to super lumen to pump more power through the bulb to get it back to ~90%. It helps extends the life of a bulbs usefulness in this way, at the cost of electricity. Using super lumens on a newer bulb will be slightly brighter but will fairly quickly diminish its life.

This bulb was only a 3o dollar bulb so I am willing to sacriface it. I wanted to pump to lumens up for the last 2 weeks of grow. So If I set it on super lumens and left it on the same timer, the next time it turns on will it explode or something?
Thx guys all the info was helpful
