*Sigh* I'm on my 3rd ballast at the moment, this time a 400w Lumatek digital, just hooked it up today, and it's quiet as hell, but after about an hour or so it's gotten really hot...hot to the touch...as in you couldn't keep your hand on it. Are they supposed to be this hot?

I don't think they should be that hot.

My 600W Galaxy stays nice and warm, but it never has gotten hot to the touch.

I don't know about the lumatec but my global greeenhouse digi only gets slightley warm. Do you have it raised at least a 1/4" off the surface?

Yeah, mines on the rubber feet as well and it isn't nearly that hot.

Did you just purchase it? If so I would try and get a replacement sent, don't want that thing igniting anything when your not around, or at all for that matter.

All ballasts get hot man. My Lumatek gets really warm, i can keep my hand on it though, but its not the most comfortable thing. If you really cant touch it, then its too hot.
