magic mushroom grow Q

I'm about to start a magic mushroom grow,but i have one question,all the guides I've readied say to have your substrate almost to the top of the jar.once the mycelium has fully colonized.instead of fruiting the entire cake,could i cut whole cake to 1 inch thick cakes.since i notice that most of the mushrooms grow on top since there is usally not to much room on sides.so that i would colonize one whole jar,break it up to one inch cakes like the size of agar plates,then move the cakes to each of there own jars to fruit.When ever i choose to fruit them

Not with a cake. have you considered rye berries? this will give you a little bit more of the flex-ability you're looking for. you can keep one jar and use it as a "mother jar" for lack of a better term doing rye to rye transfers for colonization.

do this, and then colonize another jar doing rye to rye, use the new one to make a pan, or mini tub. you control the entire process this way, and how much you yield. as well as letting you save the syringe or any left over spore prints for "emergencies". And unless you're in a state that has outlawed spores, you minamize the amount of "illiegal" you have at any given time.

getting spore syringes for me is not a problem,(like being self-sufficient).but i know where to get the ingredients for cake but rye is going to be harder to find but I'm sure i can find some in Toronto it's a big city.If anything i make spore prints to refill the syringe (buy syringes is easy to in Toronto).thz anyway

does anyone know where to get rye berries in t.o?

any health food/whole foods place will have them. If not... order them online it's probably one of the least suspicious things to get. (I'm a whore for rep btw)

I'm have a little trouble understanding your question, but I think your asking if you can use one colonized cake to colonize others? If so then yes. Basically MYC is a mold that will continue to grow as long as there is new substrate. I usually went with colonizing about 3 jars and then break those up among many 1gallon freezer bags filled with Hpoo and a DIY tyvek air filter patch. Squirrel feed works well, cakes break up easy. Just be sure to remove the sunflower seeds they mold easy.

That's basically what I did too except I just put more BRF in the bag with the colonized cake than just made one big cake in a baking pan and fruited it.

Yeah, I used to do bulk grows like that using two rubbermaids to create a little myco-dome and coca coir as the main medium. I just found the bags easier since I don't need large numbers anymore and can be a bit rougher with them.

I'm about to inoculate a bunch of logs with Reshi, Shitake, and Matake mushrooms!@#$ I'm pretty excited to start that~ Waiting for my frost days to end!

can i eat the cereal after i use it for a grow

what strain is ur run of mill goldcaps called and is there anything stronger? its been so long sence i grew any if i remeber the goldcaps r they the b's

B+ are good for beginners, as far as cut'n the cake, I do. I Always cut my cakes in half so they make the biggest foot print,if you do cut your cakes then u must case them and give the casing time to colinate. once that happens then move it to the terrarium, and presto you turned one cake into about a 1 foot square foot, flat patch that is able to handle sizeable growth with rotting. good luk it took me years of practice to get the whole process perfect and even then i started having mold issues rite b4 harvest. i thought this went perfect cuz shrooms always make me puke. they feel great after that but I Always end up pukin.

can anyone post some pics about the process. i'm really interested in this.
