Main bud dried up

I just looked out my window and noticed one of the main buds was brown. I went outside and had to cut about 4" off due to the fact that it died, and dried up on top of the plant. There is no visible mold but it is still in 1 bud. I do not plan on smoking it. What could have caused this? I cut right below it and the plant was green and wet and vibrant but what I cut off was crispy and dry and looked like it was drying for a week. Why would this happen?

Could be budrot , that dried out in the sun and warmer weather , chances are slim as it would spread normally .. What about insects ? Above the ground and below .. Many types can damage this plant and it may be in the soil perhaps ..

This is out of the blind and just a wild guess , being that there are no photos or details of weather ect ......

Heat wave yesterday - 105. THAT plant was DRY as a bone on the ground. Only real info. There was a black bug lodged in the bud as well if that could be anything.

That plant was supposed to be pulled yesterday but somebody got a little lazy. I showed somebody and they think it dried up from the heat.

Same thing happened? Bud dried up at the top and was fine and green on the bottom? I read about bud worms and I thought that might be what it was bud I never saw one, all I saw was the black insect with wings.

to add on to this - the rest of the plant looked fine , no wilting or anything. Just the top 4 inches of the bud was dry and crisp

I have not seen any black dots. ants have only been on my cantaloupe and and my carrots. I have seen none on/near/around my marijuana except for when they were clones I put them in a bad location.

Not that I could see, I have not broken it apart yet. I am waiting for tomorrow to do that.
