Mainlining: Are these side branches and should i cut them?

Hi guys, I just flipped my plants to 12/12 2 days ago and I noticed some side branching near the top of the plants. They almost seemed to get these on every node, but I got rid of the lower few before I flipped. Now I have more starting near the top of the plant. (where I haven't removed any)

Now I'm wondering if I should even be snipping these off and if I should, is it too late since its flipped to flower and I don't want to stress them too much?

I believe in mainlining you do not want side-branching so the buds can fatten only on the 8 tops. I cut the lower ones because I know its going to be a thick jungle in there if I don't. But does this side branching combine with the main branch to become 1 top? Or am I going to have like 24 tops if I leave them alone?

That's not the question I asked, instead of just saying "bro don't", it would be appreciated if you could elaborate on the question I produced.

I put the question in bold for you the second time I wrote it in a quote, but ill rewrite it. "Does this side branching combine with the main branch to become 1 top? Or am I going to have like 24 tops if I leave them alone?"

This part has not been addressed yet.

I'm not asking if I should or should not cut them, I understand that I should not. You guys made that very clear earlier.
I am new at growing and newer at mainlining so I'm just trying to understand how things work.

Also thanks ChefKimbo, I did read the mainlining tutorial but it is large and I guess I have forgotten that part. This is my first go around at mainlining. But your answer is exactly what I needed to know to answer my original question that I started this thread with. Thank you.

If anybody can clear the last question up for me that would be much appreciated.

I believe your question was answered in the first reply. Bud sites , Otherwise known as a nodes. Nodes are bud sites, a cluster of them make a cola...will they connect? Maybe, possibly., maby not... if you cut them off the answer is definitely not.. as long as they don' stretch long enough to become the apical bud they may possibly connect if there's not to much distance between them.

I know this is an old post but if those nodes are lower down on the plant I would trim off, especially if they pop up underneath the canopy support ring. You want to keep that area nice and cleaned up down there so that air can circulate underneath the canopy. Also, if you do cut em off, it will in fact send more energy to the tops of those branches where the light is most concentrated.
