Making bho

Can you make bho with moldy buds jus wondering cuz my girls have been viciously attacked my bud worms n this is this only thing I can think of to salvage what I can n make oil. ALSO when you cut to dry buds has anyone noticed a browning around the cut?

Making BHO is dangerous even if you know what your doing, Also your going to be extracting all the garbage with the thc. I don't think its a great idea to sell it but to each their own and yeah it will get you high but I wouldn't want any of the mold.

posted this on the other post you had goin. ive done this before when my plants molded and im still alive. It was about 3 years ago.

Id keep all the moldy shit, dry it out in an oven at a really low temp. around 200 ish. this will activate the thc and should help kill the mold and dry it out so any still alive will be lacking water to stay alive. then id put it all into a bag or tupperware and toss it into the freezer. This will have effects on the taste and the smell terpines probably, but most of the thc and canabinoids should be salvagable. After that id run it through alcohol, butane, dry ice, etc... and allow that extract to fully evaporate all its volatile chemicals. Also if anyone has lung infections such as bronchitis or a bad cough i wouldnt let them smoke the first few tests just incase there is any mold left that could get into there lungs and cause some sort of increase or different infection/disease. But for those with health immune systems and bodies we can handle most molds to a degree.

The mold won't live through the extremely cold temps of the butane.

Are there only certain molds that grow on cannabis?

I'm with Qwizoking on this one - botrytis is destroyed in the extraction process, but the mycotoxins created by mold are concentrated. it sucks but sometimes the best thing to do with moldy weed is to throw it away. you won't meet many outdoor growers who have never lost at least a little to mold.

Don't get me wrong I have thrown a lot away to mold but the parts that are decent but not to my standards of smoking I would like to try n salvage so I am able to smoke I jus would rather not smoke shit infested bud with small amounts of mold n rot

Blunt stash man, trust me I've smoked lots of moldy weed, concentrating it is nit what you want to do..if it just a has a foul odor and taste I would put it in a blunt, if its got webs and nasty you should toss it....or you can pony up and get a micron syringe which will also vastly improve the quality of future extracts.

Yes your wrong, you would be concentrating the spores and toxins, it doesn't matter if the spores are alive or dead(they still can cause allergic reactions ect), a micron syringe will filter spores not a coffee filter but still leave toxins, not all molds produce toxins..why is their worms or worm shit in your bud?

Because there outdoor. And I can't perfect them 24/7 from the elements lol and where would I find one of these micro syringe?

it's like this: the mold gets destroyed during the extraction. however, before the mold has been destroyed, it has already created mycotoxins that do not get filtered out. in fact, after the extraction they are now concentrated - stronger and more dangerous in theory at least. I don't know of any studies that have been done on people who smoke a lot of poorly made BHO yet, but I wouldn't be jealous of those test subjects. it's not just the mycotoxins being concentrated, unless the oil is vaccum purged there are residues of propellants lingering - not stuff you really want to ingest. I know people love BHO and I'm not here to bash it - I do believe there are ways to make ludicrously potent concentrates that are safer and better for you.

she looks close - real close. but I don't see any amber trichs in those shots - anyway well close enough to chop if it is threatened by rot. so the moldy stuff - if you can't bring yourself to junk it, I'd try to remove as much as you can before smoking it. there are a couple of ways - the oven method sounded like it could work but I'd hate to add heat to the equation - you can actually (it sounds a bit crazy) wash the weed with lukewarm water and wash the mold off, then re-dry the weed. you're better off doing that than making BHO I think - even after you've removed the mold you still have those pesky mycotoxins lurking in yer dabs.

What if I water cured an then blew that with butaine?
