Malaysia Airlines loses contact with plane en route to Beijing with 239 aboard

Oh no. I saw reports last night but figured it was mechanical problems I'll have to switch on CNN. Shot down? That's just awful

no i don't know for sure brother but several have been shot down in the area in recent years sooooo i'm going by that. i wouldn't put anything passed N Korea :eyesmoke:

yeah, they said a plane like last year was in the vicinity of some sort of rocket shot up by north korea, so you never know..

they also said the pilots never sent out a distress call, so they assume w/e happened happened very quickly, and a rocket going through the fuselage would be rather quick.. hope i'm wrong of course, just thinking out loud.. :(

well if it was it was shot by Vietnam....North Korea is way up north from where they seen the oil streaks.. for some reason in my minds its down there with vietnam and laos, thailand

i went to that link, but i had a hell of a time trying to figure out which plane out of the probably 100 or so that were on my screen was the one i was looking for, and i got bored way before i saw any of them vanish in thin air, sorry..
 
very sad, this is why I like two feet or 4 wheels on the ground. air travel is statistically safer than driving my car but at least I am in control of my vehicle. Hopefully we find out the truth about what happened in due time.

Very sad.
 
WTF? Five days later and still no sign of this plane. I doubt anybody saw that coming. It may be quite a while before anybody knows what happened. My guess is a pilot freak-out.
 
This story just keeps getting weirder and weirder... Now they're saying the plane could have flown for another 4-5 hours after contact was lost and that the US is turning it's search to the Indian Ocean after getting new information. Also apparently Boeing and Rolls Royce are only divulging information to the US government. Geesh, this saga has really got me in a way....

And Neo, what kind of info are they withholding from the non US? Does the NSA have their own trackers on these bitches? Would not surprise me one bit.... Considering.

I'm not sure exactly but apparently Boeing and Rolls-Royce both have data uploaded to them about every flight that uses their plane or engines. Also Boeing has one of the biggest weapon contracts with the US.
 
Then it does not surprise me at all that they are staying mum. I'm guessing it's one of those "we can't tell you what we know" situations. Considering the chaos after the WTC, I expect they probably know where every aircraft is at all times.

I feel bad for the families. According to one article a whole lot of them are at the point where finding a crash site with no survivors would actually be a relief. What a hard spot to be in. I've seen this before firsthand. Sorry folks.

Yeah the whole uncertainty for the families has got to be torture. I would also guess that they've (US) known or had access to know where the plane is for some time now. They just don't want to show their defense cards.
 
Now the are saying the transponder got turned off at the time the plane went off coarse , thats wierd !
The plane has been tracked by the military going back over Malaysia and into the Malacca straight close to the top of Indonesia.
They fear sabotage now , more than ever .
