Male Breeder for Autoflower Cross

Looking for advice on selecting a male breeder to cross with different Fem Autos.

Potential Candidates:
  1. Dutch Passion Auto Mazar
  2. World of Seeds Afghan Kush Ryder Auto
  3. Dinafem Seeds Fruit AUTOMATIC
  4. Dinafem Seeds Haze 2.0 Autoflowering

Based on research, these are the best yielding and newer Auto strains. I would be interested to know if anyone has crossed these Fem Autos with a nice male and had success in the seeds being auto as well, or with a BackXross to another Fem Auto if you could get a nice stash of seeds ready.

I would consider any Subcool, Soma or other elite genetics for the male. Third Dimension, The Flav, Plushberry, (From Soma: Lavendar, NYCD, etc.)

afaik, autoflowering is a recessive trait. about 1/4 of the offspring of an autofloweringXphotoperiod cross should be autoflowering. You will need to cross the best of those autoflowering offspring, and repeat the process a few times before you have a truebreeding autoflowering strain.

If you are going to do a breeding project, why start with feminized seeds? Also, as far as autoflowering strains go, Dr Greenthumb's Iranian Autoflower is supposed to be very good.

Good Question. You cannot buy any of the good AF strains in Reg Seeds . . . I am looking to make some AF seeds that will save me some money since seeds are getting so expensive. It sounds like I;m better off staying with proven genetics though. Thanks for the info as that is mainly what I was looking for. I did not know that AF was a recessive trait. I still wonder if this would work though with a high percentage of Autoflowering seeds.

Say you take Afghan Kush Ryder Auto (by WoS) and cross it with a male from a reg pack of Third Dimension by TGA. Based on above, about 1 in 4 of those seeds "may" be AF. Now take 20 or 30 of those seeds and grow them out and see if any AF. Now take that AF male (and/or female) plant and back-cross it with the original Af Kush Ryder or another AF breed. It seems like a large percentage of those seeds would be AF. I know that genetics is way more complicated than just wanting the AF trait in your plants, but something like this would have to work.

Then you would have hundreds of AF seeds at your disposal to work with.

ask campo cultivator, he has a thread in this section but also a journal in the led section. He breeds autoflowers, I have grown his petite blanche in a cab. Great smelling/yielding plant especially for autoflower
