Male vs female plants?

okay, this is probably a really stupid newbie question, but ive read through the faq here and gone through a dozen other things and i cant find a straight answer;

are female plants the only ones that can be harvested? meaning males are pretty much useless unless i were to want to pollinate a female plant?

dont be harsh on me, ive never grown before and i want to make sure i have everything 100% right.

yes your absolutely right males do not produce buds.

Yes, IF your looking for BUD only female plants may be harvested or maybe if u can separate you may also harvest a Hermie, which will be less potent than a full female.
