Yes and considering your I am assuming from south of Chicago, maybe Shorewood, Minooka, hell even Joliet? Dont think your gonna be making close friends soon as you get there that are vets. Not much speak out that way. Just be careful. You have a great area to grow where you are if you plan it right. So before you plan the big move do some research.

Lots of premium growers in Williams and around that area. Josephine County (which includes Williams) is so broke it has two sheriff patrols daily, 12-hours/day for 1793 square miles of mountainous, forested area. Rippers are a bigger problem than LE.

Stepping on toes anywhere weed is grown can be very dangerous. Most guerrilla growers in my part of Oregon live with their crops several weeks before harvest, are heavily armed and not happy with hikers and such wandering in their remote forests. The common tactic is taking driver licenses at gunpoint with the threat of if busted they have an address for future reference. $100-200k grows are not to be trifled with.

Most of those growers were born and raised in those areas, know every square foot of territory, every game trail and intersect intruders long before they ever reach growing areas. It could easily be compared to the old moonshiners and It's not a vocation recommended for noobs.

QFT. Some of the best advice given here so far.

Many places are VERY tight knit communities, and they really don't take kindly to outsiders. When someone is passing through, all know about it. When someone tries to setup shop, trust me, they will all know, and wont like other people coming in, and messing up their operation. Lots of outsiders come, muck things up, and draw unwelcomed attention. Might want to try and make friends with the locals if you plan to have a grow show. Don't want to step on any toes. Lay low, and get the lay of the land, the ways of the people, and all that good stuff. Get a "feel" for things first. Its not some "come one, come all, come grow pot" mentality. For many, its pure business, with thousands upon thousands invested, or potentially gained.

As for plants allowed, it varies from state to state. SB 420 was the bill which said max of 6 harvested, or 12 in veg state. State supreme court ruled this to be unconstitutional to limit medicine for patients in need. Therefore, it is now up to each county to regulate. Some northern counties allow 100 plant in a 100 SQ FT grow show. Some have no limit, some have set the limit much, much lower. Look into your local laws, do all your research before setting up any operation. Best of luck to you my friend !

Oh yeah dude im not ngoing out there and going big right away enough to keep me eating and a roof...but i def would be making friends before i moved out tthere i wouldnt go out there not knowing anyone i got like 2 friends out there now not very good ones but from like highschool

my mom's three cousins all have "farms" in humboldt i think i might be visiting them this fall ))

Right on man, shouldn't have too much issue then. I see a lot of guys pack there things up, and move up this way, in hopes of the "golden land" or should I say green land ? Lots of guerrilla grows messing things up too.

If you come with the right mindset, friends, you should be set. Like others said, start slow, get the lay of the land, the feel for whats going on. Meet people, network, get to know some of the larger gardeners.
