Been watching our local news here in London and getting tired of hearing the same old argument against marijuana.
"We must close these cannabis farms down as smoking it leads people to harder drugs"

Such bullshit, I'm sure it can, but every smoker I know smokes a joint and that's it.

Just wondering how many of you guys take harder drugs because you started smoking pot?

Its all up to the person really. I know some kids that won't touch even a cigarette much less a pill but they smoke bud every day. Then you got the ones that do coke, bud, heroin. Different people do different things.

I been smoking pot for 17 years and am proud to say I've never tried hard drugs.
1 time though:)....... I tried mushrooms and that was about 4 months ago.
I consumed 12gr and had one crazy night!!!
Best way I can describe it is this, I felt like I was looking at the world for the first time again!:joint:

I went on to try plenty of harder drugs after trying pot..

But really I'd say Alcohol was my gateway drug, or maybe cigarettes, that was my first 'Addiction'.

just because some one takes harder drugs doesnt mean weed lead on to it,
i know people who smoke bud but wont smoke fags and i know people who do coke but wont touch bud.

if ppl choose to do harder drugs it has nothing to do with the fact they have been smoking ganja

This is exactly why I get pissed off watching UK politicians and police blaming marijuana on kids taking harder drugs.

I tried pot before going on to harder drugs, but I wouldn't exactly say weed lead me to harder drugs.

I would agree with Jointsmith in saying tobacco and alcohol are actual gateway drugs. As far as the cannabis gateway theory is concerned: Rubbish! Cannabis prohibition is a gateway to harder drugs.

The gateway theory is a big brick in the anti-cannabis wall of deception. Personally, I prefer cannabis and I did my share of experimentation. LSD is fun, but not meant for regular consumption. Same goes for mushrooms and ecstasy. Cocaine was so awesome the one time I tried it, but coming down scared the living shit out of me. Once was enough. And I never tried angel dust, heroin, crystal meth, or crack. I would like to give peyote a chance if given the opportunity.

After careful consideration I chose cannabis as my drug of choice.

We also get "cannabis strains are a lot stronger than they were before" shoved down our throats by the anti-cannabis dictators of the UK. How the hell can this be true?

Caffeine, a very little alcohol, and THC are the only drugs that I put in my body...

I don't even consider taking pharmaceuticals (unless necessary) or hard drugs.

the politicians give us that 'cannabis is a gateway drug' bullshit every time some one proposes making it legal. its total bullshit, prohibition of cannabis is the gateway to harder drugs, for example here in New Zealand gangs run about 60-70% i guess of the drugs trade, its worse in the larger citys, if a gang finds out you sell, they may come and take your shit and your cash and maybe even recruit you against your will, like wise if you go to one of their places to innocently score some weed(because they got the only weed)you may find yourself instead smoking meth against your will,if it was legal however the gangs wouldnt even bother 'stocking it' so to speak, the courts time would be freed up for murders and rapists and real criminals, and the goverment could make money taxing the currently untaxed cannabis industry, not to mention the medical and industrial oppurtunities of legalizin it,prohibition is bull, always has been, plain and simple, i cant think of a single argument the goverment makes against cannabis that stands up to logical reasoning, its all just smoke and mirrors to distract people from the real reasons that they made it illegal in the first place.

That is one of those half-truths perpetrated by the anti's.

Large scale grows which produce what is commonly known as schwag are consistently low in THC. However, the rise of boutique growers and home grown weed means THC levels have risen. Consider one of the key factors many growers look for when checking out seeds: potency. Potency has been a driving force in the seed industry since its inception. But those factors do not affect the fields of cannabis grown in Mexico which remain constant in terms of THC.

On the whole the rise would be negligible.

My answer to the potency question is 'So what?' What difference does potency make when cannabis is harmless in the first place?

I think people are lead to hard drugs because they can't cope with reality, peer pressure, child hood trauma, shit like that. I think to say that marijuana is a gateway drug is just stupid, most times I see a crackhead he/she has a bottle of alcohol in their hands.

^^ Good point Johnnyorganic,
Personally, I prefer my weed as strong as possible, means I have to put less in my joints :)

I'd say the PROHIBITION of cannabis is more of a gateway to harder drugs than the substance itself.

Kid's try Cannabis and see that it's pretty harmless (contrary to what they've been told) which sends the message that they have been mis-informed on other harder illegal drugs.

Mis-Information is a Bad policy in whatever respect imo and it encourages people to seek out the information for themselves (i.e. try harder drugs)

Good point. I do think it's significant though. The way I look at it the stronger the weed is, the less plant matter you have to smoke.
