Marijuana Potency - THC Percentage - Thin layer chromatography - Cannalytics

Hello,
I've been trying to find a cheap kit that would help test the levels of THC, CBD, and CBN. These companies are selling these kits for over a 100 dollars and their kit doesn't even consist of 50 dollars in parts, and the refills are extremely expensive. While searching around I found Sirchies Marijuana TLC Kit, their price is 82 dollars for the kit plus shipping. What interested me was not the kit but the fact that they sell the refills, for 6 test, for only 10 dollars, plus shipping and handling. I have found multiple chromatography of Marijuana charts online and don't think that would be a problem, and I figure with the list of everything that comes with the kit it would be easy to find separately. Has anyone built their own kit? or have any knowledge or advice about TLC?

people will pay $20-$30 to test their strains all day.. I would. $50-$100 not really. Canna-test.com wants to sell "small" refills for like $500, fuck that.

Let's be clear here as I do a lot of chromatography daily. A Thin layer chromatography kit will not quantitate the different compounds like THC, CBD etc. You will not be able to know that your bud has 16% THC unless you have a certified standards that you run along side them and even then it's not a very accurate assesment of your bud. You would be basing the purity on the intensity of he spots vs. the standards and it would at best be an estimate. Paying $30 to have it done is an amazing deal and even those kits are a steal if you knew the actual cost of alot of the solvents and chemicals needed for these experiments especially if attempting to purchase these yourself.

Generally Gas chromatography is the best bet for quantitating the potency and amounts of cannabinoids. I would almost guarantee that the companies that run these tests use it or even possibly Gas chromatography coupled with Mass spectroscopy. Anyways, the kit isn't going to do what you want, better off sending the samples out and paying.

I realize this is an old thread, but has anyone found a place that sells the refills at a reasonable price? Sirchie only sells to LEOs
