mariowarner's #1 (yellow leaves/white spots/pointing down)

Hi guys,

I'm at day 17 and my plant shows a problem I cannot figure out (yellowing leaves, white spots, leaves pointing down)... I transplanted yesterday, but the yellow bottom leaves were already there and they were also already pointing down. The white spots just appeared I think. Thanks for the answer, but I mostly waited until the soil was pretty dry before watering... Maybe it was more wet than I thought!

I have the same issue constantly. You tell how puffy the leaves are. A plant that size needs very little water in that big of a container. < this logic has never worked for me, but I think it hasn’t because the roots were already fucked up at that point. My new test is not transplanting early and wait until the solo cup is filled with roots than transplant. The more roots the better the uptake and think that has been my issue. Overwatered from the start in my case.

IMO under feeding and over watering.

Combination of the 2.

Simply over watering due to the puffiness of the leaves.

Under feeding due to the pale shade of green and dying off leaves already.

For my next grow I will probably use self made mini fabric bags and grow the plants longer in them. This way, I will be sure they won't be rootbound! Maybe I'll have a look at cow pots as well!

Yeah, this seems plausible also! I thought underfeeding seedlings was pretty tough and my soil mix already had some nutes in them...

You might want to do a PH test on your run off to see where your soil is sitting at (use a digital meter) if you added worm castings (vermicompost) and 30% dry nutes? ( your saying 30% of your soil mix is dry or powdered nutrients) if I understand that right your soil is smoking hot and you have lockout and it's going to get a lot worse unless you can get your soil acidity under control. Spend a bit of time researching the effects of Low pH in soil and consider a replant into a far more stable PH environment for that poor thing.

Haha no, not 30% of the whole soil XD What I meant was 30% of the recommended full dose. But maybe even that could be too much for the seedlings...

Lol yeah ok that sounds better but adding ferts directly into the soil is still going to make it hot for a while and worm castings can do the same. Your plant looks exactly like my first grow which I believe was NL#5 fat thick limped leaves with yellowing and necrosis and I went thru hell trying to stabilize the soil PH (4. which also had a lot of worm castings but did manage over the course of a few weeks to get it to come back into the mid 6's and it just took off after that with a decent harvest. If your PH isn't stable nothing else you do for the plant will matter, probably only make it worse.

This is your biggest issue, or may have been. See how she reacts to the translplant, maybe it was the solo cup..i've had it happen before transplant, and as soon as they went into the bigger medium, they were good. They can't access nutes the same way in a small space once they want to take off. Adding to matters, your humidity is too low! At this stage, if you're averaging those temps and humidity..it's too dry. You need your humidity minimum 40%..i'd say around 50ish is better, and like in nature, higher when lights go out up to low 60's. It's 'spring' time for them

Just a short update to close this subject. The plants loved the transplant and are feeling very good right now. The yellow leaves are dying off, they did not recover. I guess it was size of the container that was the issue here! Thank you all for the help!
