Mars II 900 in 3x3 scrog

That's for a large area.

A Mars 300w light is around 30 par watts. A 50 watt cob is close to 30 par watts so for him to replace the Mars it would cost around 100 bucks and his heat would be way less than half what it is now. Pretty epic shit right? That's why Mars is trash. One little 1mm thick cob that's 1 inch in diameter replacing an entire array of pink and blue epistar LEDs.
Remember also that you can use the drivers, fans, chassis, and most likely also the connections.
Is plug and play.

Correct. Buuuuut there are larger driver losses using the cheapos. Also there is no need for fans with the super inexpensive pin heatsync options now available. plus the lsd 50w driver is under 20 bucks. So for 40 total you can eliminate all use of the Mars

For now I spend enough money just with the cobs and tools!
But I will indeed (after some time) upgrade them to cover a large surface more efficient.

I just sick of the lying companies making money off hard working Americans. These Chinese companies distributing their shit LEDs in America pisses me off because they lie cheat and steal.
Hey BM9AGS not just hard working Americans. Lol
I've been stung too ya know!

The only good you can take from a bad experience is the knowledge to not let it happen again. You are one step ahead of most believe it or not. Most/many still don't get it nevermind understand there is even a difference. Lighting arguements from naive cheap Chinese led users are based on facts not preference.

Lol I'm always 2 steps ahead of the game lol
Got the COBs from Kingbrite back in Feb.
I worked in a power station for years generating electricity so I do understand the efficiency thing.

The other 8 " crappystar " led lights I have with the low efficiency are now used for vegging but efficiency doesn't really come into the equation as the electricity at the other site is Free! Lol lol

Some people just don't get it.

Hi, I'm new here and see that the last post was 4 years ago lol
so i hope you guys are still active for some advice and help in 2020

Anyway......like many, I to have been suckered into buying mars hydro ii 900w panels in 2015 which have served me well
I have 4..............mars ii 900w panels
all 4 panels were used in 3 grows

Now it's 2020 I plan on using all 4 in a - 2x2m (6.5x6.5ft) SCROG - tent which by specifications is more than adequate.
I repaired all burst leds mainly blue spectrum specifically 440nm + 460nm
LED's replaced in all 4 panels combined was 100 pieces :/
But now I know my blue spectrum will be great again atleast.
All other LED's seem in good order beside a few showing signs of wear.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So now my main concern is, as im putting in a lot of hard earned money into environment control + into every cardinal parameter and
after reading this long discussion about efficiency and quality im now stuck on what i should do.

either go ahead and use my old fixed up panels 4x900w mars hydro 2015 models
or
mod them like @BuscaLuz did a few posts up with cree cobs (correct me if I'm wrong)

Also if possible can anyone point me in the direction of the best budget REAL par meter that wont break the bank.
