Lol don't piss in his Cheerios. He can dim them to 1400--or even 700--and gain efficiency. I think he has too much cowbell at full amps, but it's not something that isn't correctable with a twist of a knob.
I disagree piss on them cheerios all day. If airhead had understood ohms law, efficiency and distribution, he would be running at 1400 max with an extra cob.

im not trying to burst his bubble at all ...just trying to give some opinions so if he makes another .he light looks good for what i seen so far..but don't miss the point at using this cobs is for the most part efficiency and spread if it wasn't you could get air cooled hps light for 1000 watts and loose over half too..just trying to help and give options to others

Agree, but it's still a very nice light that he can run at whatever efficiency he likes. And if he ever gets mites he can crank the knob and nuke 'em from orbit. It is the only way to be sure.

don't think you get what I'm trying to say

Nah, I get exactly what you're saying and I agree in principle. But he's got a nice spread, he can gain whatever relative COB efficiency he wants via his dimmer, and he probably doesn't need another egg for the space he's going to light.

And you're totally discounting the whole mite-incinerating thing. That's big. BIG!

I think a 5L Mustang is too much car, too, but whatever floats your boat. Some people like to be able to turn the knob to 11.

if your counting on heat treatment for mite control, your grow is a lost cause.

i agree to each there own..im new to this too..but as i read more i see people wanting to go and do 2100ma ..whats the effecincey on that!!!.just trying to explain the some of the reason for this and its not a pissing contest who can put the most amps thru the cob there are other factories ..but like you said to each there own.

I have 2 HLG 240-H 32B drivers from meanwell instead of the HC model. Can i use these with my cxb 3590's

I don't know the exact current it would take to operate at 32 volts but think it would be a little under .5 amps, so it's not a practical solution.

Yo mau5, you're better at designing things than I am, peep this game playa. Fiber optic vertical grows. Yes, it's possible, if you need inspiration for a new build, that's what's got my nuts jumping up and down recently. I talked to some dudes at Greybar for sourcing the cable, I think they've got some pretty thick multimodal fiber cables that can handle up to an 80w signal per strand, and they make erbium doped fiber for laser cnc tables. You're a regular trick-boy wonder, want to spitball some design ideas here?

My biggest complication is setting up a photon pump with a COB, there are a lot of pre-build 5w single-unit led photon pumps out there, I figure you could just get a really narrow lens, and mount the inlet of the fiber at the focal point, but then I feel like that's going to be diminishing returns. I would like to have a multi-stranded cable polished really well, roughly the same size as the die, and then bodge the things together, as heat shouldn't be an issue as most of the cables are meant to actually take some abuse. I was thinking like a small-suitcase sized mirrored-resonance chamber that houses the cobs, heatsinks coming out of which with a 6in. duct fitting on the fins of the sink. Then cables coming down onto a vertical post, spitting super high fidelity COB feed 360 degrees around. Kind of like a caduceus.

I ordered last week 6000 watts worth of Cob and drivers 120 cobs 30 of each spectrum top bin , from 3500 k to 6500k it cost me 8000.00 Canadian just on cobs with Converting to US Yeah FUCK YOU CURRENCY RATE and shipping making them all 400 watt units for total of 6000 watts k here are my actual units i will be using to mount 8 cobs and 2 drivers per unit i will use with mechatronic round passive heat sinks .
But making reversed air cooled hoods for drivers n heat sinks only Sealed C02 room IMG2922.jpg IMG2920.jpg

Growmau5 & greenegenes were participating in live streams for the DIY tech talk segments on COBS only a couple of weeks ago. Growmau5 really IMO had played a key role to it as he was a good speaker, and understands his audio equipment. They had some pretty bad audio technical difficulties that i felt had killed the mojo on something that couldve been very easily avoided with proper implementation (maybe just test it out prior to going live so you can iron out those issues). Greenegenes get that shit together! I love listening to you guys talk. I also felt Robin could really work on being more engaging, or contributing more interesting sentences or feedback etc - just more substance, or maybe someone else who is more passionate about LED and can talk for podcast. No offense directed to anyone! Hopefully growmau5 continues to take part with greengenes into the future or at least keeps providing his own interesting content.

Does anyone else share a similar sentiment?
Also is it just me or is majority of people not grasping the name "Growmau5" as in growmouse?, not "gromau" or "gromo five" lol its not hard to type the "5" guys

It's live bro. There will always be issues when live even if tested first. It's using Google hangout. Shit doesn't always work right with Google hangout when it did 5 min prior. It's a good show already.

Have you seen hash church? It's been going every week for over a year. It's the same format. They have technical difficulties all the time. Where in the weed nerd series, sub spends a month filming and editing. They don't have tv network money ro have all the right equipment. They're just using pc mics and Web cams. Except for growmau5 who is also an audio engineer. He has good high end mics on hand and a good interface. I don't expect green genes and Robin to go out and spend $2500 on a neumann mic plus stand and pop filter and another $500 for a decent daw interface.

I hear you Hyroot, It doesnt require any more money to eliminate feedback into the microphone. that was the main issue. Certainly wouldnt require a neumann mic for podcast! That is ridiculous. I felt like growmau5 was kinda put off from all that, its a simple fix. My full time job is audio production, and i can tell you it can be done cleanly without any post editing. Although i do like my KM184's on overheads on drums and my trusty U47 microphone for VO Jobs never hurts haha. I will also check out hash church for some more night time entertainment. Cheers

There's a lot more audio engineers in here than I even knew. @SomeGuy is one too.
I'm also an audio engineer. But haven't worked in the field in a few years. No money in it for music anymore unless you do it live or you are personal engineer for someone famous. The only ones hiring for anything at the time was one of the Spanish tv stations but I don't speak Spanish so.... I've worked on a few films doing Foley mics and boom mics. That's about it. I lost all my studio equipment a few years ago when my place was robbed. All I have left is a vintage roland s-770 sampler and a cheap shur dynamic mic.
