Maximum Amount of Darkness Blue Dream Can Have Before it Begins to Flower

I wasn't sure if this should be posted in the newbie section or here. I figured I might get better info if I posted here. I have some blue dreams that are about 3 weeks old. I'm hoping to transplant them outdoors eventually, but am worried that they will begin to flower too soon. On April 20, I get 13 hours of sunlight. The most I get is 14 on the solstice. Is there a way to ease the plants into a 13/11 cycle to acclimate them to natures cycle so the shock of darkness hours changing won't send it into flower or will they start to flower as the darkness increases anyway? Right now I'm running an 18/6 cycle. I have no height restrictions outdoors and am hoping to get them as large as possible i.e. have them veg for a couple of months.

Any suggestions? Should I wait for the solstice before I transplant? If it helps I'm at around 32 degrees lat.

Can you run lights?
If you can run lights, you can put them out early, but be forewarned they will get HUGE!
I don't plant out until mid May.
Good luck

yeah just wait till june if grown right they will b like 6-7 feet tall by harvest time....or u can transplant outdoor early and end up having huge plants like doublejj

Just to clarify, only the plant directly behind me is Blue Dream, the others are different strains

doublejj

Outdoor isn't the same as an indoor grow-- they do not need 12/12 outside--- Plant outside as soon as you have zero-chance of frost... or you will need to tent them....

They will start to bloom late July early August.... when the sun cycles are right...;)

12/12 is an indoor thing- in order to force blooming... if you are trying to keep them going indoors-- If floro lights, use 24/0 lighting-- if HPS or MH... stay with 18/6

you will need to 'harden off' the plants when they go outside if using floros so they do not get sunburn... put them outdoors a few hours a day- increasing gradually...then back under your lights..... when they are able to stay out for 6hours 2 days in a row without burn... you can plant them...

Each strain is different, and different to the area also. My blue lemon thai went into flower at 14 hours .....

You can reduce the odds of triggering flowering with supplemental lighting. I.e. flouro's hung over the plants and set to extend the day by a couple hours on each end. Sativa doms are less likely to flower early with a spring transplant so blue dream is a good choice.

i would really wait till mid may june cuz u dont want your plant flowering early and then reverting later in july and august i had that happen to me 2 years ago

Ahh yea ok . Put your stuff out now and let us know what happened.

Thanks for the posts everyone!

Lady Zandra... I'm curious. What's the difference between sunlight and indoor lighting? Why would one cause flowering and the other not? I'm thinking of waiting until at least May 6th as several people have claimed to have success/suggested Early-Mid May.

Please feel free to keep posting! I'm alway appreciative of info.

If you have the room, you'll be better off, growing them bigger inside & putting them out later. Mid to end of May
Good luck

If they're under 18/6 and you stick them outside they will flower right away.. Doesn't matter what time of year it is. My first harvest is drying now. Will get my second harvest around the end of this month..

DoubleJJ, I love your trees !!! They realy look great. Bet it's a killer come harvest time.. How long does it take to trim and dry something so huge ??

Since we (wife & I) do it ourselves, & we don't push it, it takes us months to trim it all.

We need to develop a Nor-Cal trimming collective... I don't know about you but i'd love to get together with RIUers and shoot the shit while trimming.

Nothing better than the last few years, watching the Giants win the World Series, with a big fat bud in my hand!
"Strike 1" - snip one
"Strike 2" - snip two
"Strike 3" - load the vaporizor!bongsmilie

It goes on like that, all thru October & beyond:roll:

yeah but then they will revert... how is a smart ideah and pluss if he did doo that his buds would b so small and wont get to their full potential
