Maximum Lighting a Plant Can Use?

High all!
I bring this up in my ongoing quest to improve yields...
As I understand, our pet plants can only use so much light in a day or 12 hour period without additional co2 supplementation. I am thinking more light would be the next best thing i can do to improve yields without adding additional co2, i just really don't want the hassle or expense of that.

I have a 600W hps in a space close to 4 sq ft. & only one plant at a time in there.

Am i anywhere near the maximum light it can make use of without more co2?
Am i correct in my thinking: more light=more bud?

Tbh you seemed to have filled in all the space, i recommend more space and another light instead. Look up light saturation

yep, more space would be nice but i have a lot of time & money invested in that cabinet and am rather parcel to it. there's more to it than what you see there.
would those buds not get taller/fatter with more light?

Hard to say, really depends on strain and environment.
A 600w hps in a 2x2 is plenty of light so i would look at heavier phenotypes or more grow room.

i run 1000 and 600 hps . the major difference is the 1000 is raised up higher spreads out further . but if you could get another 600 double your juice bill and keep the heat under control you will benefit from the added lighting . by how much is hard to say your room sounds like its optimal already . i did plants with 2000 watts a single plant and pulled just slightly more then the 1000 lights sitting right next to each other . hope my info helps some.

well another reason i am looking at this light is because i am very limited in electrical power and my hps/mh draws 5.5 amps whereas that light claims it "consumes about 190-200W".

I really just want to know if the plant would be able to make use of that much light in that small space without additional co2.

with no co2 the minimum you need for "vigorous" growth is 35 watts per sq foot, saturation is supposed to occur around 50 watts per sq foot. they can take more than that without damage but they can't actually use more than that. 4X4 = 16 sq feet, 600 /16=37.5 watts per sq foot. you could supplement with a few strategically placed led panels or even t5s and make up that 12.5 watt deficit with minimal added heat

did i misread that? is your area 4 sq feet or 4x4? because if its 4 sq feet, you got more light than you need already by a good margin

yes, it is only about 4 sq ft.
thanks man, that's the info i was looking for.
guess i will leave it as is.
i got in excess of 10oz. top shelf bud and 1.75oz of not-so-ripe popcorn buds.
I'm actually pretty pleased.

*edit* now all i need to buy is a new bulb! :D

IMO, they don't move a lot of air but is the best i have found for such a small space. wish it had an oscillation option but it will pivot in almost any way imaginable.
They serve pretty well in there. was a good purchase decision.
