Maximum trichomes

Sup everyone hope you're all well.

how do you tell when a plant has produced the maximum amount of trichomes?

Also how can you help the plant to produce the maximum amount possible for the strain?

thanks in advance

Check the trichomes they are the resinous heads on the bud and elsewhere. They will go from clear to cloudy to amber when done. Get a scope of some kind I like to see, try a 100x.. cloudy is when they've stopped producing. As you want the most to be done producing wait till bout 20%amber. Just my opinion everyone has their preferences. Your bud will swell the last couple weeks though

Bear in mind that the more amber trichomes you have the more 'couch lock' the strain will be. Of course the primary factor influencing the high is the actually strain itself, Sativa or Indica..

The plant will produce it's best if we give it the best and NO MORE than the best. :)

This is a very good synopsis of the situation. I just reviewed it again last night. This is the cliff notes. But, it shows what to study. We are all studying.

I'm not supporting or spamming for that site. Most, if not all the details, known to man, is on this site, RIU.

This is just for your foundation and to know what to search for on RIU.

The genetic disposition of the stock is foremost the most valuable asset and then optimal environment and care , which will manifest trichomes to the there optimal production and development but low and behold there is no product or gimmick that can change genetics as I assert again this is the biggest factor in the riddle .

Read the stickies for the proper harvest times and understand there are many variables within the parameters :)

I heard they contain metallics. I'm not too keen on smoking that shit. Are there any organic or other wise? Ie ice water, dark period etc..

But I think I missed the point, I wanting to know when a plant produces the max amount of trichomes, not when to harvest.
I'm going to hack em' when they are milky for a high not couch lock.

thank you for all the replies.

You harvest because its done producing. So I'm not understanding your question. The plant produces the most trichomes during flowering and if not pollinated..genetics and nutes and lighting etc aside.

I understood the question,I'm just slow.
Trichomes keep producing even after harvest.
Read it somewhere.GL

edit: The color tells us what they are doing, like it's in the amber stage they start to degrade.

As to increasing potency a dark period will not increase trichomes or anything else imo. If its turned cloudy its done producing and is now degrading into cbn. A dark period perhaps will retain lighter terpenes and allow some other trichomes to turn cloudy while limiting degradation

Ok thank you. Some good answers to my q's.

just to throw another one out there, it's a bit off topic.

Is it recommended to cut the plant in one or can you chop the buds that are ready and leave the others to ripen?

If you want to use the growth stimulant Triacontanol in an Organic form just read up on Alfalfa Tea

Not really from my experience when you cut the plant in half or whatever to let buds develop the plant tries to compensate and throws off the bud to leaf ratio. It just tries to get those leaves back and support the root structure. But I do grow extremely vigorous and stretchy landrace sativas. I'm not so experienced with indicas they may not do this as bad.
