MD card in San Diego?

Hey,

I'm new to the area and need to get a MD card in San Diego.

As of right now I do not have health insurance, so getting a recommendation from a California MD is not possible right now for me, but it will be in a few months.

I have a friend in LA who was able to get a temporary 3 month card while he waits for his health insurance to kick in so he can get a recommendation from his doctor.

Does anyone know if this is possible to do in San Diego? If so, where is the best place for me to go get a card? Cheapest place?

There are "cheap places," but you get what you pay for. Those places open and close often, and your recommendation will no longer be verifiable. They are not the cheapest, but the most professional and oldest and most reputable clinics in socal is Alternative Care Clinics. I've gotten my rec there since 2005.

I don't know what you mean by temp card. If you have some medical records about your diagnosis, and a California address, you can get a MMJ recommendation from ACC. It will be good for 1 year.

If you don't have insurance, go to the local Clinic. Its usually about $50 for the visit, then fill your prescription and take that to the MMJ Doc for your recommendation.

I'm just about to get one BUT I have some more questions!

Someone told me about a special medical card that allows me to carry more- should I opt for this? Is this a difficult thing to get?

Also, what about a cultivators license? I asked a MMJ Doctors office about this and they yelled at me saying no 'medical condition requires someone to grow 99 plants'.

So can someone break this all down for me?

The so-called growers certificate, or license to grow more plants is just a scam. All you need is a recommendation from a CA physician. With that you are allowed to grow as many plants as is required for you to supply yourself with medicine. The plant number guidelines established in SB 420 have been struck down as invalid, so there are no plant limits. Of course, over 99 plants takes the risk for federal mandatory minimum sentencing.

Great place. Got my rec there last yr, think it was 110 w/there id card they offer.
