I'm not completely familiar with the laws in Cali, I don't live there so I don't really care. As far as I know, illegal aliens can get drivers licenses and anyone with a drivers license can vote, so...
Don't shoot the messenger. I still believe in "us vs. them", not "us vs. us" like it's become.

Federal law dictates the matter. California has no say in it whatsoever. So why do we keep hearing the story? Why do you probably still believe it is true? Residents (Legal or not) can vote in many local elections and have been able to for decades. This is a result of communities voting to allow it - which is in their purview.
This is a perfect case of Trump lying to make his ego feel better. And you, apparently, believe it. I don't know if I am against them or us, but I am against that sort of thing.

That is a whole separate issue. Driver's licenses are entirely up to the state. They could even register to vote but cannot vote in a Federal race.

Now, any whack a doodle with a website can say anything and make it look like a news story, say MSM are all lies and have a following the next day.
Frank Luntz is brilliant at what he does. Learn how to bring in votes studying focus groups, throwing out fake news tidbits to those groups, get a feel of how they respond to it, while hiding the truth behind fake news. Then, run some ads based on the results and watch the polls. Repeat.
It's brilliant. It works. Enough people accepted it to change an election this time.

Google Answers ranks answers according to the "voters" on Google Answers. There is no central authority to determine correct answers. It would take about ten minutes to write a little script that would skew these results over time without notice. Consider it a sock puppet attack.
I assert that this is exactly what is being done. It's quite clever. And knowledge is the only defense against it. Too bad we'll be defunding public schools.
Earlier I mentioned the Reddit fiasco after the Boston Marathon bombings. Thousands of Reddit users engaged in a little "scooby doo" action and tried to be detectives using social media and the thousands of pictures available. Their conclusion, which I believe the New York Post even printed on the cover, was to finger two totally innocent brown guys. I am sure a popular vote would have convicted them. Thankfully, professionals paid them no heed and put out an APB for the actual bombers.

Federal law does not allow that. Citizenship is the first requirement. I don't give a crap if a county in California wants to allow aliens, or dogs for that matter, to vote on local referendums.

Google has no responsibility to do that. They never said they did. But they now find themselves having to. Wikipedia has had to for years. It is a subversion of the spirit of crowd sourcing.
It was, and continues to be, Trump's best tactic though. Now we have a dozen intelligence agencies telling us that the Russians purposefully sought to influence our elections and Trump is just going to explain it away by saying it never happened. Why not? His followers have shown no inclination to hold him accountable for any one of a hundred lies he has based his campaign on. This is another piece of evidence that shows me that I was right all along. The only thing he cares about is himself. He will leave us impoverished in uncountable ways.
Have you seen this? Sorry to give you a view with the commentary - it was easiest to find. All you really need to do is listen to the things TRUMP! is saying.
