Google Answers ranks answers according to the "voters" on Google Answers. There is no central authority to determine correct answers. It would take about ten minutes to write a little script that would skew these results over time without notice. Consider it a sock puppet attack.
I assert that this is exactly what is being done. It's quite clever. And knowledge is the only defense against it. Too bad we'll be defunding public schools.
Earlier I mentioned the Reddit fiasco after the Boston Marathon bombings. Thousands of Reddit users engaged in a little "scooby doo" action and tried to be detectives using social media and the thousands of pictures available. Their conclusion, which I believe the New York Post even printed on the cover, was to finger two totally innocent brown guys. I am sure a popular vote would have convicted them. Thankfully, professionals paid them no heed and put out an APB for the actual bombers.
