Medic Grow lights -- is this deal too good to be true?

With backup drivers and up to 150k light hours on my now discontinued Fluence Ray 66 Fluence lights, I should be able to enjoy my current setup for another year+. I didn't buy them all at once -- some are about 4 years old and others are as new as a year old.

I hadn't rechecked PAR since my last adjustment before flipping a few days ago. It's better than I thought!

Lights are 6.25" apart from their center (so, closer to 4 inches end-to-end). The white trays add about 35-50 PAR, but all plants hit ~750 PAR once they stretch above the scrog net and then quickly reach 800+, 900+, and I measured 1020 with room between bud and light. I can raise them individually pretty easily since they are strung up with 16 gauge wire.

Not too shabby. First round in this setup. By round 3, I should have 1 strain per tray (and exclusively pheno selections in later rounds.
After trying nearly 40 strains in 4 years, I'm working with ~12 (4 currently starting bloom).

Most of round 1 has been vegging since mid-October. Next round will be further along -- I wanted to get going!

Drying/curing room is adjacent to the bloom room. I'll trim there, too. I'll put a black top sheet over the amber jars. I hang on racks that are wrapped in panda film. 4 clip carousels and rack space if I need more room. Aiming for 4-8 lbs, 4 to 5x a year (no trafficking/crossing the 10 lb line).

The AC/heater is behind panda film because it lets light in and covering it was a quick fix.

Well , that's awesome news - I'm running 5+ year old technology and the buds seem to get a compliment every now and then.
I probably should post more pics because they usually get PM'd around and it's looking good there!

Wow! Spectrum X looks awesome! I'll wait for them to go on sale again and grab at least 4. VS spectrum is on point!

I'm not a fan of the driver being enclosed, that is a potential heat issue plus I believe they're built in chiminilly but many are.
Just be sure to measure the stuff for replacement parts as most of these companies don't last long...

Plan for the worst, hope for the best.

I plan to buy backup units/drivers with my initial purchase, because 1) the rep might give me a better price and 2) too much is at stake during flower to wait even a few days. That will reduce the pressure/urgency to replace a light/driver by warranty. Medic Grow is priced low enough to make buying backups in advance doable. And I see the Hong Kong address on their website, which suggests overnight shipping may not be an option.

Their warranty policy comment appears to be informative:

what is the benefit of being able to tune your spectrum over just a full spectrum ? are you able plants to produce more or be shorter or something?
These are pretty cool lights but to pricey for me i just built a 320w QB from HLG with coupon it was 230 bucks I went over kill tho and got the 600w driver

It’s just the ability to switch between the optimal spectrum for veg or flower. The spectrum x is my first led fixture and have only used it for 1 and 1/2 flowering cycles. I have a mini sun 2 full spectrum 320 watt but have not used it as of yet.
Running hps now due to cold temps.

I recall reading that HPS doesn't have blue in its spectrum, so plants stretch more. My Fluence 66 lights are technically a veg spectrum because they have a higher blue peak. Whereas, the Medic Grow VS and FS spectrums offer additional peaks beyond the normal blue and red peak advertised on most LEDs.

Some research suggests far red goes toward a prettier looking bud and possibly more terp production, and UV light can help produce more frost and terps. We'll see.

I'll likely run Medic Grow's VS spectrum because it has more blue, so you'd be able to control stretch better and have larger stomata for photosynthesis. Also, the greater green peak should correlate with deeper light penetration to lower branches.

Currently, I have < 800 watts over plants, so I can get pretty close. With 800 watts or more, you'd need at least 12" between light and canopy.

But my goal isn't just more power. I'm at 750-1020 PAR within the first few inches above scrog (i.e., high yield PAR without CO2 supplenentation). I'd like to be at around 1050 PAR for as much of the canopy as possible (not more, not less), so hanging the Spectrum X 15-18" above canopy should get me where I want to be.
