Medical Marijuana Grower and Parenting

As a medical marijuana grower parent do you agree with showing your children how to grow, following in your foot steps. I myself see that my 1 year old son has a natural attraction for what I´m doing in the Grow Room. When I see how he looks at our mj plants his eyes shine with curiosity. Do you guys see it as correct to instill a medical marijuana growing tradition for the following generation? Or would you hide the grow room from your son at all cost. I live doing this so it´s hard to separate the two, but I enjoy the amount of time that I´m able to spend with my family and plants because of my work, that to me is the best reward, and it makes it all worth it. Plus we meet a lot of interesting people in our line of work. Is it a viable career choice for your children?

My wife isn´t too keen about my son getting close the grow show, I wish that I would have grown up in a grow show and skipped a learning curve.

If your son is interested down the line, then by all means teach him. But I would say let your son gravitate towards it on his own. I, personally, would lock it up and keep him away from it. Out of sight, out of mind type of thing. At least that's what I'm doing with my 17 month old. Besides, when he gets older he's gonna want to impress his friends and that will most likely cause your grow to not be a secret anymore. There's plenty of time for our kids to do whatever they want with their lives, let them make up there own minds.

I'll leave you with two quotes from Trailer Park Boys:
Ricky: The thing with kids and growings and getting learnings and stuff is that... You can't lie to them. Basically, if you wanna tell the children they can't do something they're gonna want to do it more. When I was young I did all kinds of crazy shit and I turned out wicked. That's because my dad was fuckin' cool, he let me do shit. I was allowed to drive his car around the park, basically took my dirt bike to school, let me grow dope in his shed in grade 7. You know, that's what good parenting is all about. You gotta let them have a bit of freedom.

Ricky: I try to be a role model for kids around the park. If some kid wants to grow dope, they can come talk to me, instead of growing dope 6 or 7 times through denial and error, they're going to get it right the first time and have some good dope.

so after thinking on this for a few days, and consulting it with some other friends, here´s the conclusion I reached. As long as I am bringing my son up in a manner that will instill in him good christian values, and to be fearful of God, he will continue to have the blessings he enjoys today.

In my situation hiding it wouldn´t work because I really open and pro about legalization, and so is the co-op. I promote medical marijuana legalization.

I was the same way when I was younger, except that too few boundaries in the long term are more problematic then visible at the begining. I wouldn´t want my son to behave like I did then, he would give me even more of a challenge. Just like Growing, it´s all about balance. Too much either way isn´t a good thing.

here´s a link that I found useful.

Not to turn this into a religion debate, but you can still instill good values in him that aren't Christian. And one should not be fearful of God, that's the biggest bullshit about Christianity. No one should have faith strictly because of the fear of a judgemental god. Either way, hope you found what you're looking for.

Well I started when the kids were different ages. If you let them know when they are young and show them that it is more normal than the Police/schools want them to think they will just be use to it! If your kid is use to seeing anywhere from 10-20 oz of dry bud sitting around then he/she wont be all excited when one of their friends saves up and gets a 40 sack.

If they aren't around it when real young you will have to determin when they are mature enough to know what you are doing. That of course depends on the child. I don't believe if you hide something from a kid they just wont do it. I cuss around the kids and I know they cuss with their little friends but they better not do it around me or their mother! It is a respect thing! Hiding shit from your kids will make them want to do it more. I wouldn't smoke with them at all! Or have them around when you are selling "if you are". It will glamerize what you are doing.

My advice that I tell my 14 yr old is don't waist your time smoking weed now! You will be doing it out in the woods and you will be cold and fucking wet! Do good in school get a great job after college and then you can get good weed!!! ;) Then you can sit around and smoke responsibly and you don't have to hide it from anyone and you don't have to try and sneak to the fridge in the middle of the night hopeing that you don't get caught! LOL I just hope she buys that shit long enough to keep up her A,B avererage! Me personaly I would like my kids to be better than me! Not that i am a peice of shit, but I would like them to strive for something better than growing weed for a living. JMHO
