i have been a faithful medicann patient for at least 5 years now. every year i go to medicann and renew my script. then i go 2 blocks across town to the county office and apply for my state ID card. it takes about 2 weeks then they call and i go pick up my card.
so this year i call medicann as usual. i make my appointment and get renewed. i go to the county office, pay my fees and apply for my ID card. they told me then that medicann only has 1 Dr in the area that can sign off for state ID cards. they told me they mail them to medicann and he does this once a month so it would be about 5 to 6 weeks to get my ID card. no problem i say.
today i get a call from medicann. they can't sign my papers off without me seeing ANOTHER Dr. a Dr who happens to be in Concord. i live in santa rosa. that's 4 hours round trip. times open are between 9 and noon. nice am traffic. then she says "well there is no charge".
i was pissed. i told them this was wrong. that they should tell me that they don't have a LOCAL Dr to sign off for the state ID. instead they just took my money. they know i get a state card because the state contacts them every year. shouldn't this be on file? they could have told me before i was ever seen and i would have just gone to a local Dr here in town. we have many. then the state could deal with the local Dr directly.
why is medicann trying to make me drive 4 hours to be "reseen"?
then medicann says "well the state card isn't needed anyways. it's strictly voluntary". i don't think that's any concern of there's. is it?
so now i have to go to a new Dr here in town and be re-evaluated. then i have to go back to the state and reapply. i'm not sure what is going to happen with all my fees i've put out already. but at least it will all be local. within a few blocks of home. not 2 hours away.
i will NEVER use or recommend medicann again. they have become less than "helpful".
