Medicinal Plants

Does anyone grow medicinal plants and if so, what are they? I’m growing chamomile, valerian, yarrow, and toothache plant.
Cool thread.

I have some mullein plants that have sprung up in various places around the yard that I'm letting grow. I plan on digging a small patch of nettles this spring from the wild and planting them in a small spot in the back of the yard. There's some lemon balm that I can't get rid of. I have rosemary, thyme, and sage. I grow garlic every year and harvest rose hips from the roses. I have a patch of horseradish that I eat the greens and roots.

There's also the mint, echinacea, calendula, marigold, artichoke, mustard, and several other plants I can't think of that are growing in my yard.

I need to look into growing valerian.

Most any plant has some medicinal purposes. Incorporating many different plants into your diet can help keep you healthy. Many can be used for making ointments, teas, etc... for treating specific ailments.

I’m a bit of a forager and I’ve got quite a few of those that you mentioned growing wild on the property. I’m looking to target nerve pain and muscle spasms specifically so I’ve got a tent specifically for those.

I love basil and mint. I grew probably 10 varieties of each this last summer. Have you tried salvia? It wasn’t for me.
I haven’t yet as the plant is quite small nor have I tried it over the years.

I always think of the video with the guy who does “gardening on salvia” and passes out before he can fully exhale, but not sure if that is extract or just dried leaf.

Once it’s big enough I’ll indulge, it would be rude not to!
