@DrKiz i see you use over twice as much A as B, is that for flower or just regular use.

I’m still trying to figure out what ratios I want to use. Whether I want to go with their feed charts or try the Jacks 321 but skip the Epsom salts as MC part A seems to have plenty of Mag.

I dont get that part either. It has the same ingredients and ratios as Jacks but Jacks recommends epsom salt and their ratio is much different than MCs.

Flower. I’m on like week six. Switched from one part about two weeks ago.

So far that ratio seems ok. No extra Mg.

I’m multi strain so always trying to keep a happy medium. I’ve got a couple plants with slightly burnt tips, nice and green... and one that’s fading...yellowing out on top slightly. May have to hit it with some extra Mg.. not too worried about it though.

Run off EC vs. Input EC pretty much tells me what to feed. I see a ramp up, then ramp down.

I’m happy with this new blend. I’ll get pretty good at dialling it in. 25lbs is gonna last a bit.

So I got my PPM pen in today and decided to test the well water I’ve been using to grow with for the ost few years. Was shocked to see it come in at 420ppm on the 500 scale.

Oddly enough I’ve never really had issues using this water, well not that I realized. I run DTW is coco and grow under cob leds, bridgelux veros. So when I started I had calmag issues, well more mag than cal, but just assumed it was the combo of the 2 things that are famous for causing those issues. Well it was an issue I sorted out quickly a few years ago but now I’m wondering if the issue wasn’t so much from the coco n lights as it may have been from too much ca compared to mg.

Anyone know of any good companies that do testing that will show these levels. I plan on continuing to use the same water as it’s done fine for a couple years now but would like to know if I need to play with calmag anymore or I just need to adjust my mg levels to fit with all the cal that’s likely in my water.

Oh and even with that high of a ppm level my well water has always had a ph of 7.1-7.3

Pretty much the same as seen on the GLN site PPM calculator. A few mods.

Such a teeny tiny amount of silica in the MC. Shame on them. Lol
Appreciate this, now just need to figure out the cal/mag ratio of my well water and I’ll be able to fully dial in my grow.

I’ve never really had major issues but after seeing my water at 420ppm but still have a ph of 7.1-7.3 has me wondering what’s in there that’s causing it to read so high but not raise the PH.

Anyone try using the megacrop 2 part like jacks 321 compared to mega crops own feeding schedule?
I've been using the 321 ratio with megacrop for my last few batches of fertilizer. I started out following the megacrop fertilizer schedule, but i think I was having Mg issues. Their early veg ratio only contains around 24ppm and I'm running LEDs in coco. From the looks of it the megacrop 5-12-26 is just a copy of jacks with amino chelation and a bit of silica so i don't see why it wouldn't work the same.

*the issues I've been having may have also been due to a new batch coco, but won't know if it was the fertilizer or the coco until my plants get a little further along.

Jacks or MC2 (virtually identical, as you noted)
Dropping the epsom, should put the Ca:Mg near 2:1. See the GLN calculator PPM elemental for 2-part. 3-2 (no 1)

(MC 1part or 2part - contain what I consider trace silica. A whopping (1) ppm of silica in solution per gallon @ recommended dosages.)

The numbers of Jack's, Masterblend and Megracrop are almost identical for the A-part: 5-12-26/
The B-part of those brands as well: 15.5-0-0.

But only Jack's and Masterblend also advice to add a C-part: Epsom Salt.

Why do you think MegaCrop is not doing that?
Is t not needed, because there is already enough magnesium in the A-part? (I read somewhere that this is the case for Jack's as well)

I make sure Mg is about half of Ca.

Jacks 321 is heavy on Mg - if the epsom is added.

Megacrop has different dosages on its chart. None are 3/2.

Like @AquaTerra said, ph feed solution is recommended and measuring runoff. 1100ppm might be a bit high for most strains, but if your runoff is consistently coming out lower than what you're feeding, then ok.

however, i dont think thats the case here. you'll confirm if you do measure runoff.

IMO, you have an excess issue. Give water only, and measure runoff. Feed her when runoff gets to .7ec.
Late in flower, you can let runoff go down to .25ec

water is the easiest fix!
I noticed that with some Promix growing mediums and with the use of some additives you have to take into account a certain PPM that you must not account for when figuring this out. That's why Promix gets all the hate and it's bro-science when you ask how to handle that blend in your nutrient feeding.
Miragle Gro growers need not respond.

Because quite frankly, megacrop is new and they dont seem to have 2 clues of what they are doing. Every 3 months they change their 1part into a completely different formula and dont even tell their customers. They used to say their 1 part was perfect and a 2 part wasnt neccesary. Four formulas later they released a 2 part system.

Give it a month and im sure they will be suggesting to add epsom salts too.

Switching to jacks was the smartest thing ive ever done in my garden (moving to LED from HPS is a close 2nd)

My only complaint about MC is their 2 part ratios are complete nonsense.

I was getting potassium deficiencies doing their recommended 2.5g A 2.5g B ratio end of veg.

So then fast forward a few weeks when I flip and it starts to bud... I follow their recommended ratio of 4.2g A to 1.8g of B for "full bloom budding." Now I got some calcium deficiencies at the top of my growth.

So what Im doing now is using Jacks 3.6g A to 2.4g of B ratio minus the epsom and everything is looking pretty good. Ill be using that same ratio from beginning of flip to end next run since MC A and Jacks A is literally the same minus MC having a bit of silica.

I only favor MC over Jacks cause of the silica included but if I keep running into problems after next run...Im going to get that MC Part A bag and throw it in the garbage.

Besides their nonsense ratios creating deficiencies. MC produces pretty nice plants

I was surprised. I takes 3 grams of the Part-A to get 1 ppm per gallon. They also add some kind of aminos and kelp bits.

Based on the Greenleaf calculator.

This is what I've been saying for years. Greenleaf used to be a good, consistent company. Their goal used to be to bring us pure 'salts' matching the big name brands, at a quarter the cost. Now they are just starting to do what everyone else is doing. Like we really need another base-nute on the market? Esp. one that is already offered?

I don't understand why GL changed their business model. Maybe outta need? IDK

anybody bought MC's Part B calcium nitrate? i bought it from them this time cause powergrow's Cal-Nit was out of stock.

PowerGrow's Cal-Nit takes a few strokes and its fully dissolved in water.

MC's cal-nit does not mix well at all. just sits at the bottom of my cup after i pour water in and i mix and mix and mix with my bamboo stick and theres still a chunk of it at the bottom of the cup. I even tried hot water and its still a pain in the ass. my damn arm hurts from mixing this.... its supposed to be the easiest thing to mix out of A,B and epsom but its 10x more of a pain in the ass than Part A.

what is this blasphemy. gonna dump this bunk cal-nit into my garden and just order Powergrow's version of Cal-Nit again.

tldr
Dont buy their cal-nit.
