Mendo Outdoor 2010 by STZ

Whats up RIU? This thread will be to show the progress of my outdoor grow this season. I was running a light dep and I finished that up like the middle of June and I don't think I have been on RIU since I had plants vegging inside so as soon as the light dep was done, I could throw some more outside and have a full-summer crop. Anyway lets get to it!

The Place - I am located in sunny Northern California and this is a legal medical grow. This is my 4th year growing outdoor in my back yard and its already shaping up to be my best year ever!

The Plants - This is the first year I have started all my plants from clone. I chose to do this because last year I had a few seed plants and one male slipped in and I had to dig it up. Thankfully it didn't mess anything up but it was still a waste of time and money! So I got all my clones this year from various clubs from the North Bay to Eureka, choosing strains that either I know to be good, or strains that sounded especially interesting or tasty. Currently I have 25 plants, 13 of which are in the ground and 12 of which are in pots. The biggest plants are like 5-6 feet and most of them are about 3 or 4 feet. In the ground I have: 1 Tangerine Diesel, 3 Chemdawg, 1 Maui, 5 Granddaddy Purple, 2 Cheese and 1 Afwreck. In pots I have 4 Blue Dream, 1 Blackberry Kush, 4 Afwreck, 2 Pineapple and 1 Tangerine Diesel.

The Plan - The plants are all in the same soil mix I make up for all my plants. It consists basically of Happy Frog soil, perlite, composted manure, trace minerals, and some mycohrrizae. The plants in the ground are in 3x3 holes except for the Tangerine Diesel which has a huge fuckin monster hole. The potted plants are in 5-7 gallon buckets except for a few that are in 15-25 gallon pots. I really hope to pull about 10 pounds from the plants in the ground and maybe another pound or two from the potted plants, but I try not to count my chickens

Anyway, there it is. You've seen my pics and read my long ass post lol. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to let me know. If you think my grow sucks ass, let me know what you think I can do to make it better. Ill try to take pictures as things change and flowering starts and ill try to update as often as possible. I may also throw up a couple random pics of my friends' crops if I feel up to it. My little plants look like fuckin bean sprouts compared to some of their shit hehe. Well on that note, im outta here. Here are some new pics from earlier today. I couldn't be happier with the way things are going. The plants are all looking good - dark green and healthy and growing a few inches a day. My biggest problem this year may be keeping these things from growing too much taller than the fence Anyway, some of the plants are starting to flower now so I started mixing in some Age Old Bloom and phasing out the Age Old Grow. The Blackberry is in full flower mode now (almost has what I would call "buds"), the GDPs are just starting to flower as are the Cheese and the Pineapple. The BD, Afwreck, Maui, Chemdawg, and Tangerine Diesel are still happy veggin hehe. Well here are some pictures from this morning. Its been really cloudy/cool in the mornings and the plants seem to like it. Everythings looking real good except the plants in 5 gal black buckets. I think the hot days cooked the roots or something - im not really sure but I know they aren't growing for shit. The big plants are just getting bigger. I am full on feeding bloom nutes to everything now. Just using Age Old Bloom, Brer Rabbit Molasses, and the occasional splash of Superthrive. A couple plants are really into budding now - the BB Kush will probably finish early-mid Sept and then everything else will start finishing early-mid October. The Maui and Chemdog will be the latest finishers but they are inside the PVC frame and are easily coverable should it rain by then.

I kinda wish I could just go forward in time about a month and a half. That way I wouldnt have to worry about cops and rippers and my crazy ass 93 year old land lady trying to kick me out! Anyway, check out the pics and let me know what you think. Thanks for reading everyone peace RIU!

Hi all! I went on vaction to SoCal for about a week and returned to find my girls blowing up! When I left I had a few hairs on some of them and nugs as big as my thumb on others...now everything is fuckin huge. The GDP nugs are almost as big around as a tall boy and the little Blackberry Kush plant is a few days away from being done. Anyway here are some pics!

Here are some Macros. There is at least one shot of each strain. The big fat ones in there are the GDP.

Thanks man. I have heard great things about the BB Kush but never smoked it.. just sounds delicious. Only Kush strain I have ever grown, as I have never cared much for that "kushy" flavor.

Cut down the Blackberry Kush this morning. It looks/smells super chronic. While preparing it to hang, however, I found a few seeds in it. Upon inspection, I found almost my whole crop to be seeded I don't even fuck with males/seeds I grow from clone every time so im not really sure how this happened. Anyway, no use being all upset about it. My weed still looks/smells bomb so all I can do is keep growing the plants how I have been and hope that everything isn't seeded as bad as it looks.

PS. My neighbors on both sides of me weren't happy to hear about the seeds and they sure as fuck weren't happy when they found all of their bud to be seeded too. Whole neighborhood got fucked lol.

you should definitely keep all those seeds labeled, accidents lead to wonderful things

that's real unfortunate, good thing is that it will still smoke! I'm growing GDP and my nugs are blowing up right now, im half way through flowering, how much bigger do you think it might get? double?

thats one of the bad things about growing outdoors...you can have one shotty neighbor seed out a whole block or more if they arent on top of finding a male or hermy...shameful

I would try to find out who had the male, and what it was, so you know what kind of f1 hybrids you have. It sucks they got seeded, but you might come up with some awesome strains out of it. Sounds like they got seeded early cause you can't see the seeds, so they are mostly in deep. My friend was just harvesting some Blueberry that finished early, and it was bomb, but found seeds down in it. All his crop and his sons got seeded. He pulled a Silver Haze male out too late, so that was the father. I think Silver Haze and Blueberry will be a good cross, I grabbed some of the seeds yesterday. Sorry to hear about this, it was lookin' great!

Yeah I like your guys' ideas about keeping the seeds. I live within a half mile of probably close to 10 other growers, so I would literally have to knock on doors and ask about what strain their male plants were lol. I would guess the pollen was in the air a good 4-6 weeks ago, as some plants have huge almost fully developed seeds. The Maui and two out of the 3 Chemdawgs have no VISIBLE seeds...I even ripped a good sized branch off of each plant to tear apart and look for seeds and cant find a single one in either of those 3 plants so I might have a few pounds of sensi lol. petersparker - yeah man my GDP is maybe a little less than two weeks from harvest and i'd have to say that most of their weight was definitely put on in the last week or so. They gain in size/weight/density BIG TIME in the last few weeks. Wheezer that SSH x Blueberry sounds like it would be bomb! I might have some intersting crosses on my hands as well lol. Anyway theres no use getting pissed off, as it clearly happened a number of weeks ago and there was nothing I could have done. I might as well just hope for the best and be happy with the fact that I might end up with 10 pounds of personal smoke

Thanks STZ! I'm really getting excited for the last month of flowering! Has yours started turning purple too? I heard week 6 was the week when it started getting it's color. I had some really vibrant purple coloring about a month in during veg but it disappeared... sound at all familiar?

Thanks man yeah it worked out o.k. but could have been done a lot better. The greenhouse is about as legit as it gets as far as DIY but my plants were too small/too few to begin with and I just didn't veg indoors long enough. Anyway good luck if you try it I always like to see people drying light depo's out. petersparker - Yeah man all the buds (including the hairs) are starting to have purplish hues, and just started to get really dense. I'm using Humboldt's Own Gravity for the first time The GDP's will all have about a 10 inch barrier of rock hard beer-can nuggets all around the outside of the plant and thats just on the first cutting I trimmed all the BB Kush up today....all I gotta say is damn. I pulled 109 grams dry from a plant less than 2 feet tall. It looks so bomb its covered in trichomes. The smell isn't too strong/unique but the taste is great and its super stoney. Not as many seeds as I thought either...I probably only pulled 20 seeds out of the whole QP. There might be another 10 in the bag that I missed. Kinda shitty still but im making the best of the situation. Anyway ill be cutting some of the GDP next weekend so ill post updates as things happen. Peace.
