I always start off in a solo cup and transplant at 7 days. This time I decided to go straight into a 3 gallon pot. The challenge has always been managing the water amount so that the seedling tap root can still get oxygen. A solo cup is a smaller space and a seedling thrives more easily than in a wet 3 or 5 gallon pot. This time I decided to keep the soil in the pot dry and to just water around the seedling. It dries out in a few hours but I stay on top of it. The seedlings are in a closet in my office, so I'm right there.
She is currently at 4 days from breaking soil under a pair of Viparspectra P1000 dimmed to 25%. Lights are about 12" away from seedlings with a fan blowing so that they are constantly swaying. I keep the lights very close to stop the seedlings becoming too leggy. I'm also able to get a very even canopy that way. I don't top or train and i end up with very little popcorn.
I've grown AvT quite a few times in the past. Always the same characteristics. Great terps and solid nugs that pack a wallop. She likes a full dose of nutes and is ready right at 80 days.
I'm really looking forward to moving them under the COBs at 3 weeks and watching them take off. This will be a fun grow.
