Metal Halide 6500k vs 4000k is there any real difference?

Hey folks,

Basically the title says it all. I just realized that my HPS ballast can run MH too(duh!) so decided to ditch my vegging CFLs and get a MH bulb instead. There seems to be more 4000k bulbs than 6500k on the market and they are also slightly cheaper. So my question, again - does the colour temp make that much difference when it comes to vegging with halides? I just want to know which option is better really, money saving is not an important factor.

yes it does 4000k is cheap commercial bulbs that emit more yellow green light. 6500k is good for veg but i like either 7500k or in the 5000k as they often offer more PAR in red and blue areas than yellow green.

Hey man thx for the reply, much appreciated. I'll skip past the 4000k then and look at the others. One more thing though - does it make any difference that my plants have been under those CFLs for over 2 weeks already? I mean, only changing the light to MH now? I don't think it should be an issue but just want to be sure.

yes worth it bro. apollo is some cheap china crap. when you pay extra for a bulb your paying extra for the better manufacturing.
