metal halide powering up but not turnig on

help!!!!! my halide kinda shit the bed the light dont turn on the ballast starts up and sounds like it is going to fire but nothing any ideas on how to fix never worked on this stuff before but pretty savvy to all other types on electrical. is there something that usually goes on these that i can just order parts for on ebay? 1000 watter so not really cheap to replace?

Do you know the bulb is good? If you dont then I would try another bulb before anything else, worse case scenario you can take the bulb back if you find its the ballast.

probably the bulb. the ballast will still start up and try to fire the bulb even if it is bad.

Turn it off and wait 30 minutes... I bet it'll work after that. Same thing happened to me.
