@Hot Diggity Sog what strain is that?
For that grow it was all different strains. The look uniform only because each and every one was put on risers to make an even canopy. Started with 53 plants and 21 different strains and ended up with 27 plants and 18 different strains.@Hot Diggity Sog what strain is that?
BULLSHIT. I ran a thousand watt HPS lamp in a parabolic reflector on a magnetic ballast that plugged into my 120V wall socket. Through the eighties AND into the nineties.luckily I was ok for the first 5 yrs or so.
Back in the early 90s there were no remote ballasts, or even hps wired for 115 at the time.
I used a non remote warehouse ballast 400 w mh and the smoke I grew was fabulous, way better than what I could buy locally in santa cruz, and we are known for some good herb.
the MH will absolutely grow fantastic buds, and there wasn't even a need for suicidal thoughts.
Oh.. right on.. I"ll check it out. If you ever get it tested, I'd be interested in the results. For that grow it was all different strains.
(It was my Chapter #1 grow)
I wonder if he picked up a light wired for 277 or those other wierd volatages.. Thats why he had the sparky look at it.BULLSHIT. I ran a thousand watt HPS lamp in a parabolic reflector on a magnetic ballast that plugged into my 120V wall socket. Through the eighties AND into the nineties.
I dug my open parabolic fixture. The bulb was still mounted horizontally, so I had some light distribution issues to solve... which I did, with a light rotator! It was a great solution and helped me grow a lot of bud back in the day.I wonder if he picked up a light wired for 277 or those other wierd volatages.. Thats why he had the sparky look at it.
parabolics.. oh man, those were the days.
Are you still alive?i'd kill myself if i flowered solely with an MH.
Is this a random LED unit or is it purpose built to match with and complement the spectrum output of an HPS lamp? I think the idea has possibilities...Fuck it use both
4-300watt LED and 1000watt HPS air cooled hood in a 4x4 tent. Overkill? I think not
They are full spectrum LEDs. Used 8 last time around and was very happy with the quality, taste, smell, frostiness the LEDs provided. Similar to when I used T5s for a whole grow bud much more yield than that. Not as much yield as the HPS but I feel the quality was better as far as smell and taste goes. So I said screw it and am trying both.Is this a random LED unit or is it purpose built to match with and complement the spectrum output of an HPS lamp? I think the idea has possibilities...
So ~1600 total watts from the wall? I think in a 4x4 with that you should be pulling ~3-4 pounds? I think you're about at the max wattage I would put in a 4x4, but I would still be aiming for 4+ lbs and if I wasn't hitting that I would say the setup with 4 led panels is overkill.Fuck it use both

Im excited to see the out come.So ~1600 total watts from the wall? I think in a 4x4 with that you should be pulling ~3-4 pounds? I don't know what a 4x4 maxes out at, space wise, maybe 5lbs? So if you've got much more than 1800-2000 watts it would definitely be overkill.

Overkill is exactly my kind of grow!So ~1600 total watts from the wall? I think in a 4x4 with that you should be pulling ~3-4 pounds? no need to be surly about it, I wish I still had it so I could show you guys, the socket was built into the ceramic and metal housing.BULLSHIT. I ran a thousand watt HPS lamp in a parabolic reflector on a magnetic ballast that plugged into my 120V wall socket. Through the eighties AND into the nineties.
So if I was growing in the eighties, how old do you suppose I am?no need to be surly about it, I wish I still had it so I could show you guys, the socket was built into the ceramic and metal housing.
At the time there was NO other option for the 400w system, at that time, from where I was, this was before the days of the internet.
NO WAY I could possibly run a 1k light in there, so whether or not there was a 1k light was irrelevant to me at the time.
You guys and your disrespect...
Maybe it'll come with age.
I'm not in the habit of saying anything untrue or anything based from conjecture on this site. At least if I can help it, nobody is perfect.
but I sure as hell don't spread misinformation.
Course I heard of them, but they didn't make the 400w back then, nor would I have mail-ordered it anyways, this was when the paranoia was relatively high.So if I was growing in the eighties, how old do you suppose I am?
Btw, I got that kit from a young upstart company just getting on its feet in the mail order business... 'Hydrofarm'. Perhaps you've heard of them?
Sorry if I sound a lil snappy- it's the RIU thick skin thing, I guess.Course I heard of them, but they didn't make the 400w back then, nor would I have mail-ordered it anyways, this was when the paranoia was relatively high.
doesn't matter how old you are, respect is learned/realized, not given based on age.
I didn't disrespect you, in fact seemed like we had similar beliefs/philosophies.
But it's all good man, I don't mind.
I know plenty of old curmudgeons that don't respect anyone.
Take care of your self man, keep on growing.
I mean that with all the respect in the world, i'm not into participating in internet quarrels, they are pointless and only contaminate your own fishtank.
no worries man, we're all good.Sorry if I sound a lil snappy- it's the RIU thick skin thing, I guess.
The first one piece 400W systems were simply rebuilt street lights. You know they worked, and had their drawbacks.
The truth is, I wish I still had that old horizontal parabolic reflector! I lost it when I got busted for growing... in 1991.
