Because, i have read things saying you need a jewelers microscope, which is wayyyyy to expensiveYup. I got mine at radio shack, I believe the price was $12.04 and it does a great job.
You should be able to see the color change no problem at all. I use a 30X and you can see all stages from growth to clear to milky to amber so 60-100 will work even better.thank you very much for the quick feedback.
