If you are 19, getting a medical card will be harder than you think. I have no idea what those rules are. When I got my card all I needed was a Colorado ID, $50 and a pulse.

As for amendment 64, you have two years until those laws apply to you.

Why not call one of the doctors that makes recommendations?

You guys don't realize how easy if will be for us to lose this privilege.
The only thing we can lose is weed stores. The feds recently said they will not mess with us unless the Colorado government shits the bed.
There is no way the feds can take away our constitutional right to grow, possess and give away marijuana within state laws.

It is not a privilege, it is a right, backed by our constitution.

Obama said they will stay out of it as ling as the laws are upheld. The more people exceeding their limits, caught selling to minors, makin moves before they read the laws, blowing up ther places making bho, the easier it will be for the feds to come back. This is a test and we have the ability to show everybody we can handle this like grownups.
The feds are puffing out their chests, talking shit they will not be able to back up.

Colorado government oversight of medical marijuana has been a joke. The dispensaries overall are not acting irresponsibly, the government is mucking it up.

Individuals growing weed are not going to mess anything up, the government is the only thing that cam fuck this up.

I would bet my house that the feds will not try to stop retail sales, even if/when the state government shits the bed.

We are tired of people coming into the forum and asking these types of questions, without doing any research on their own. I would suggest you go educate yourself on all the laws for growing, caregiving, etc. then come back and ask some educated questions and I am sure the group will be more than willing to share their understanding of the laws. Most of us are about using medical marijuana exactly for the reason it is called medical marijuana, for medicine. Most of us have put in a lot of blood sweet and tears to get where we are, you must also do the same. Nothing will be handed to you, you must put in the time. You have to be a good steward/ambassador for the movement. Here is a link to get you started on your research. Go read!

Sorry I came off assholeish I just get tired of hearing this. so many people are trying to move here and make a quick buck. I'm cali mental illnesses are legit ways to get a med card but not here in CO. Too me just the way you worded things seemed to me like that what u were trying to do once again sorry. You don't need a red card to grow so you shouldn't have to worry about it.

My issue with the texas visitors is they act like the own this place and show us locals no respect when it was us takeing care of them this summer when all their rv sites were on fire.
i understand and accept your apology:leaf: i have no interest in profiting off weed once i move. to be honest if that was my intention i would rather stay where i am lol. i can make way more money off weed in an illegal state than colorado, no doubt.

Do you know what area you will be living? School can be expensive with the out of state tuition rates, so good luck with that. Living close to work is really a good idea as the commute can be tough and expensive with gas and wear and tear on the car, not to mention higher insurance rates than a lot of places. The light rail system is great, living near a station is good for students in Denver because there is a free pass deal at the big schools. Living with parent may mean no growing, and under 21 means a parent has to sign off on the red card if I understand the rules correctly. Good advice is to minimize your consumption for a while until you get to a good place, settled in and then, if time and money allow, sit back and enjoy a bowl. So many people put their desire for weed ahead of the important stuff. Like is said about getting married: Sex is like frosting on a cake, it isn't as good without the cake. Same as weed, it should just be frosting. So sex is like weed? Gotta think about this some more...
we'll be moving to denver. thank you for all the info, i appreciate it. i was under the impression that a parent only had to sign off on your card if you were under 18.

i'm tired of posts like these. this is simply one form of research i'm using. i'll say this again..google.com is not the only research method available to us. you can do research by reading books, interviewing people in-person, posting on an internet forum; the list goes on.

damn..i'm sure i'll figure out how to get a card. i'm fine with it being hard as long as it is possible.

ahh ok..so in order to grow legally i have to get a card. thanks for the info. and i just might find a doctor to call.

II'm absolutely sure you will love this beloved state.
It is filled with great people, beautiful scenery, and some fantastic cannabis.

Don't take our” harshness” too personally bro..we are experiencing a huge influx in population since the passage of A 64. And unfortunately, the majority of those people are blatantly doing so to take advantage of the progress we have made in this regard.

And we call out” our state” or ” our Colorado” simply because we; as a collective or as a population voted these laws into our State's Constitution.

I wish you luck CCC.. you're going to love Colorado..
It may take a while to get to know some people..

My advice:..
Start researching dispensaries in the prospective area that you are going to be relocating to..

Denver Metro area has an astonishing 749 active dispensaries, to put that into perspective..

There is only 450 Starbucks coffee stores in the entire state...lol

Call some of the dispensaries, many of them will help you obtain a legal red card and hold your hand through the process.
Being 19 is going to be a little tough..

Do you happen to have a medical history of the anxiety and nausea?
Like, have you been to doctor to validate that you actually have these symptoms?

I'm not trying to give you a hard time here.. Just trying to make things a little clearer for you.

If you have any documentation of these issues, bring the records with you.
Post up what every questions you got..

Colorado is hands down...
Amazing.

CCC:: Welcome! I've seen you throughout the forum, and you seem like good people.

420: you totally called it on the Texas drivers, but Boston drivers are RIDICULOUS, if we're going nationally. Seriously, I don't even know what to say about them!

Trousers: I agree about the feds being practically impotent to stop retail sales, and that its not a privilege, its a right. I think that's critical, as those terms have historically distinct meanings. We have a constitutional right to marijuana, not just some willy-nilly statute.

Rae: You said it: READ! The basic info's not hidden. But, some people learn differently than others, and reading sterile text sucks (even for those of us who demand doing so). So, I'd recommend consulting with someone once you arrive about a red card. I'd also suggest reading through the "Growing at Home" thread.

Sir: Bless you, Sir, for sooth you say! I couldn't agree more!

Cheers!

The weed is amazing. I've been in oregon now for 4 months and I still haven't found anything that even touches some of the smoke I could get in CO for half the price!

expect about $25 1/8, $45-55 1/4, etc.

Getting your red card is easy and nausea will get you your card.

Ill have to double check with my mom, but I'm sure with a card and with 64 passed you can grow 12 plants unless your a caregiver, then I think it's 99 total. Ill get back to you when I find out for sure.

So what city are you planning on moving to?

Amazing.
i completely understand. i can't imagine i'd be too happy if i lived in colorado prior to these laws then BOOM everyone and their brother shows up to grow/sell weed...that is probably very agitating i'm sorry about that. makes it hard to believe someone could actually have some decent intentions moving up there lol.

damn! that is a lot of dispensaries lmao. i knew there were a lot, but that number blows me away tbh. good thing i enjoy weed much more than coffee:mrgreen:

well for medical history i'm thinking about visiting a doctor within the next week to complain of chronic nausea. i used to suffer from chronic nausea so i shouldn't have a problem playing the part. then in a few months when i'm in colorado i can say i visited a dr. a while ago bla bla bla. as for the anxiety i've got plenty of documentation for that. i've been on like 30 different psychiatric medications, maybe that will help me get a card. i'm on anxiety meds now but would like to get off of them if was able to procure enough weed.

those prices even with tax?! that'd be so straight...what about ounces of fire? i was looking at a dispensary menu the other day and their prices were very strange...

1/8 = 50 || 1/4 = 100 || 1/2 = 200 || ounce = 400

price/gram stays the same no matter how much weight you pick up lol...hope that isn't common in CO as i've never heard of this.

i'm going to look into the whole caregiver thing some more. i know i will have at-least one patient (momma, haha). 99 plants would be more than enough. i get the whole basement to myself btw:mrgreen: i'll slowly turn that basement into a SICK setup.

i believe we are moving to denver. well at-least i hope we are moving to denver, lol.

That is incorrect, if you have a red card you can have 6 plants and same for ammendment 64, it is unclear if they overlap or not. 3 in veg and 3 in flower. Not 99 unless you have an extended plant count.

That number is probably for the entire state, not just Denver. At first it did seem like there were 457 million dispensaries, but now they just blend in to the background like every thing else.

I used to drive down Federal Blvd and go, "Oh look weed store!" at every store. Now they all look the same to me, just another business.

I am not sure if there is a provision in CO mmj for psychiatric problems. You need to do your own research instead of relying on opinions here. There are people from out of state giving terrible advice.

No one is selling $400 ounces, unless there is a population of rich, stupid pot smokers around here.
I have seen solid ounces for $200. You can get sale prices lower. Do not be afraid to walk out of a dispensary if all the weed is the same color. Many dispensaries still quick cure.

Your definition of Fire might be different from mine.

You better get a card that allows you 99 plants. A card recommendation does not change the law, it just gives you ammo in court. If you have a bad cop at your house, you would lose every thing and have to fight it in court. It is not likely, but it could happen. I tell people to comply with the law. 21 and over get 6 plants per person (3 mature, 3 immature), per residence.

If you mother can claim she is in charge of the grow, then you do not need a card. If have another adult in your house, you get 6 more legal plants.

Do you own research. You are worried about legal aspects and you are asking here?
Seriously, do you own research.
Call a doctor and talk to him about being under age.

I like the idea of the thread. I might be moving to Co as well. Why not? It legalized bud and has fire zips for 150-200. I agree with op that this thread should definitely qualify as researching. I don't understand why people have a stick up their ass saying they don't want new residents in the state. Any residents have any advice for out of towners? maybe nice towns/cities to live in? news on A64? I'm counting down the days, I turn 21 in Jan 2014 when it'll be enacted.

@Trousers...
I sourced the dispensary numbers from the latest issue of The Hemp Connoisseur.

I had to do a double check myself, flabbergasted by the ratio..
It DID mention Denver and the surrounding Metro area, so, they may be including Boulder, Castle Rock etc etc.

But when they compared it to the Starbucks... that blew my mind.

I'll post up the article when I get home from work..lots of cool numbers in the article..
Monthly section” By the Numbers”

Okay..
I was off..

Only by 10 though..haha
From the October 2013 Edition of Culture Magazine (not The Hemp Connoisseur)
Page 12
(I'm not going to type all of the article, just the more intriguing aspects)

” By The Numbers”
1) Number of dispensaries in Denver compared to number of Starbucks in the entire state: 739 vs 415.
2) Number of registered Medical Marihuana Patients in Colorado:107,000.
3) Percentile of MMJ patients residing in Denver-Metro area:59%
4) Percentile of approved MMJ applicants that are male: 67%
5) Average age of MMJ patients: 42

There are done other numbers that are interesting, I may come back and add them in tomorrow.

Goodnight Colorado, Smoke it if ya got it..

Having my mother claim that she is in charge of the grow sounds like a very good idea, thank you. <-- See that right there is a perfect example of information that would not have been obtained by "doing my own research" - as some of you like to call it, lOl.

why would this be a bad place to discuss legal aspects of marijuana laws in colorado? i am on a marijuana growing site with over 600,000 members and am posting in the colorado forum (most active medical marijuana sub-forum). imo, this is a pretty damn good place to do research. why you all have a problem with me researching here, i'm not quite sure, but oh well.

You are going to get a lot of incorrect information here. I love stoners, I am a stoner, but we are not the most reliable source of information.

It is pretty easy to find out what our recreational rules spell out.

why would this be a bad place to discuss legal aspects of marijuana laws in colorado?
Because some people like to give advice even if they may not know what they are talking about.
You are talking about walking a fine line between legal and illegal. I would find a better source of legal advice than me and my brethren stoners.

Get advice here at your own peril. I have read some wildly untrue things about Colorado law from people that live in other states.

That is the source of the "do your own research"

Nausea will get you a card but you need two Drs if under 18 or 21(cant remember which it is) and it has to be labeled extreme as in causing wasting sydrome/hospitalization,etc... Otherwise generalized nausea will not qualify. And any mental health problems automatically disqualify you, no Dr will sign off on your red card paperwork with any mental health history like, bi polar, schizo-affective, etc... Unfortunately Drs still believe THC causes temporary psychosis which is why they wont allow it. Funny though that CBD is a known anti psychotic and works amazing. Anxiety will get you nowhere as well. DO NOT DISCLOSE your bi polar to the Dr or use any previous medical history that contains this information. We all know cannabis is a great mood stabilizer and anti psychotic but the Drs do nto see eye to eye with us yet.... My advise is have your mother claim the plant count until you ar of age or have the necessary medical req.s to get your card.

i am careful to believe everything i read here. the way i research is usually by taking information here and trying to validate it with more reliable sources. i don't solely depend on this thread for answers to legal questions, but i understand where you're coming from.

@indipow82
that is terrible news...i really don't think i'd be able to fake nausea to that extent and i have extensive mental health medical history..oh well, if i move i'll just take y'alls advice and have mom claim the plants. that will be plenty of smoke for me anyways. i was pretty excited to shop around at dispensaries though.
