my bad its like 330 in morning i speed read your question i think your asking the ration to use and the thing is that you are going to have to figure what you want outta the your buds ed says 2hps to 1 mh i think but thats bullshit if you ask me mh is proven to grow danker nugs hps make your buds swell mh makes your plant "guard" itself with thc so make more of it so in my opinion 1 for 1 ratio.... oh and put em as close to each other as possible so that the lights overlap if you need to knw the pattern unplug one see what it covers then vice versa and you can see where your covering mose effective and kinda rotate your babies

they have exploded really started to bulk up the last two days ! I know two days visible growth?? but yeah ill upload the pics later tonight .. stay tuned this shit is amazing me!

the liner under ur plants is that panda film or just black plastic?? is it water tight or does moisture seep threw? i used a pond liner felt like i got ripped off paying 150 for the liner and wood, wondering if i should of got sumthing cheaper that works just as good...

did u trim all the bottom leaves off cause of the lack of light, is it more efficent to trim bottom leaves, even if u have enough light to penetrate the canopy, does more leaves and branches mean more buds??

just a little note: i was watching my grow dvds on my computer last night and heard that i should have my 400 watters about 12 inches from bulb and not 24 well in the morning i held therm under lights to confirm and found no heat increase till i went 8-9 inches on hps and 9-10 on halide... i then made adjustment and droped lights about 12-14 inches i hope in time for it to help during this grow (it doesent seem to have hurt but shoot for the stars and you'll at least land on the clouds) so i adjusted today once light was on im going to make the cord hanging the lights easily adjustable during next grow so that i can take advatage of all the lumens possible


ps my girls dad is electrical engineer and does lighting design so im going to have him bring his foot candle meter the reason you use foot candle is more specific in calculating angles and he knows how to translate that to lumens im going to do this in the next week or so, so that i can map out just how the light fades and such to get a mental image for future ref ,its great to have great sources like this

Heat is not so much the issue, lumens received is. Contrary to popular opinion, cannabis receives alot less light during flowering than during veg. For the best yields, don't push (screw up) your plants.

Here's a chart I did years ago on f.c. readings. Horizontal hood, specular gull wing shaped insert.

DISTANCE FROM LIGHT............F.C. READING

.....................250W HPS.............600W HPS

Within 6" (Way off 10K f.c. scale, for both lamps)

6".......................10,000...............10K+

8".......................7,100.................10K+

12"......................4,800................8,700

18"......................2,800................5,600

24"......................2,000................4,200

30"......................1,400................3,300

Frame of reference: sun = 9,000 - 10,000 average, clear day;
Cool White fluor measured 2" from bulb = 1,200

im gathering from this that you wanna get as close to what the sun will put out without going over. is that correct ?

It's all relative to the other growth factors. You want to find out the light saturation point for your plants and stay under it. IOW, when you start bleaching out the leaf's chlorophyll, you're in trouble.

You use a f.c. meter as a tool, a reference point based on the plants' vigor, color, health, etc. There are no absolutes when it comes to horticulture.

thanks uncle it goes to what i say your plants speak to you and let you know what they want/dont want and listen to em its just about figuring out what they are trying to tell you
