Mini split UV light shining during lights off in flower.

I have 2 mini splits with uv bulbs inside to help things stay a little more clean. These bulbs turn on when the system is on either heating or cooling. At times this means they turn on during the lights out schedule. They do not emit a bunch of light in the room but there is some uv light that is visible when the hvac system is running. Should I put these lights on a switch or a timer or do the plants not "see" this light and it will have no effect on them as far as light leaks go? I can't find a post or information about this online anywhere. Anyone have any knowledge or information about this? Trying to decide if they are helping or hurting the plants or if it is a non issue during lights out in the flower stage. Thanks

Or uvc?

If its uvc, the uvc light WILL destroy plastics, wood, etc, people, spores, and anything with a DNA strand.

And make sure that uvc light does NOT emmit ozone as well.

I build.custom UVC light filtration boxes for growers. Uvc is NOT something to play around with. It can and will cause cancer, cataracts, and or blindness

This is a pretty close up picture because the camera wont pick up the uv light from a distance. The hvac heads are about 8 to 10 ft off the ground and about 6ft apart. If you stand in the room for 10 to 15 minutes and your eyes become accustom to the dark it feels like it becomes bright in the room to the human eye. I am a little concerned this may cause problems in a dark bloom room but then again I have read post about people using uv lights for trichome production. I have also read plants dont "see" uv light just like they dont "see" green light for photosynthesis energy. Pretty interesting stuff.

Since its uvc, please.and i cant say PLEASE enough, do some searching on uvc and the dangers they possess. It will literally give you cataracts and of go blind if you look at the light. Qorse than lookin directly at the sun.

Uvc is NOT something to be used with out caution.

Are all different parts of the light spectrum. They are not the same. Uvc WILL kill living things. It cant and will NOT ever make trichomes. It will however, destroy them.

Please research this!

You can ignore me all you like. But in 1 month, do not cry about being blind or dead plant

Can you place something in front of the hole where the light is? Not covering the hole completely, just enough distance to let air in etc. Or maybe put it on a timer so it doesn't come on at night. Don't know how warm it would get without the ac on with lights off

And yes uvc is harmful. But since this is a consumer product, I would imagine the light is far enough inside to where it won't make contact with anything else but it's enclosure

When the system is on there are fins that open up and then the light comes on and is kinda visible. So covering the fins is not an option. I got them put on a timer today so it's a non issue as far as dark periods go. I still wonder if that tiny amount of uv light that was visible during lights off would have any impact on the plants or if uv light is treated similarly to green light. I have searched everywhere for an answer and have not found much. I understand the fact that uvc light can be damaging to cells. I was more interested in how plants "see" it. You always read that the tiniest pin hole of light could screw everything up (I dont much believe all that). In the 700 sqft bloom room I am using I doubt the tiniest uv light coming from inside the mini split heads would do anything... I have partners that seem to think otherwise and have some worries. (hints the timers)

I do believe that light is to check “ occupancy” I think there’s a way to turn that off

The uv light always shines when the system comes on. Light on or lights off the uv light glow can be seen. I was just worried about the uv light glowing in the mini split head during lights out period.

I was going to add uvc lights to my mini split as well did you ever figure out if the little bit of uvc light that leaks out of the mini split head would wake up the plants ? Has the uvc lights helped with molds ?
