Miracle Gro can work but it is not a complete fertilizer, it only provides NPK and miniscule ammounts of trace nutes, while other products like fish emulsion can provide more trace nutrients that the plants need.

Plus using organic nutes will feed the soil and in turn simply feed the plants. Chemical fertilizers like MG will make the soil have an increased dependence on the chemical ferts and basically biologically dead. So if you are going to start using MG then you have to continue using it not only on the plant but also in the soil.

I won't really get into all the political/ go green mumbo jumbo because all nutrients (organic and chemical) used massively can lead to runoff and pollute the waterways.

I personally don't use MG because it makes the plants grow too eratic. Too many short, fast, bursts of growth that I don't think is good for the plant in the long run. Long story short, there are MUCH better products out there, and who really wants to be smoking or eating chemicals?

In the summer of 2007 I dug some holes in the ground and filled them with Miracle Grow. I used Super Thrive in the beginning to prevent my clones from going into shock and I used some generic plant food on just a couple waterings( it was on old bottle that had a little left in the bottom).

These are what grew.

Now thats a testimonial. I have been debating whether to use MG or not because its HALF the price of Fox Farms line. I've also debated some Kellog's soil that has bat guano, kelp meal, worm castings, composted forest prodcuts, etc. That is only 7.79 a bag as well.

What was the NPK ratio of the plant food you were using?

Everyone I know that's been growing both indoors and outdoors for years uses MG exclusively. However, they only use the organic and for big outdoor plants they mix regular MG...it's rated at 21 for Nitrogen and I can't remember what the organic is.

I've been using Organic MG and have had zero problems. I think where everyone is going wrong with MG is that they aren't buying regular MG or Organic. they are buying some "special" bag like "moisture control" or whatever else it is. Buy yourself some organic MG, get some regular MG and mix those with some Perlite (no nute perlite) and away you go.

Fdd2blk is widely considered to be the guru of this site. Guess what he uses? MG soil and good organice nutes...just NPK. Plants really only need NPK. You may have an occasional deficiancy somewhere but I don't think it's because you used MG over Fox Farms.

I don't know WTF I'm talking about but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night :)

Alright that might be the problem also i didn't use nutes yet though the whole 30 days. What is some good nutes(NPK) for vegging i was thinking of 20-5-5 or 20-20-20?

No nutes for a few weeks dude seems to be the ideal way to go.

Many organic veg nutes I see are in the 10-5-5 category to maybe 15-7-7. The Bloom nutes have almost no Nitrogen and seem to be like 1-5-5.

It's a good thing you didn't use nutes right off the bat.

Im using Miracle Grow, the plant is growing really slowly, could this be the MG or just b/c its starting of its veg cycle. Its my first grow, second attempt. 3 females outdoor in 10 inch 10"deep pots, its been TWO weeks today since the seeds broke through soil and the eldest is 2 inches tall only 1 set of leaves, and (a new set coming in between) I forgot the word for that new set of leaves, co..r..n....?? something like that, well anyways, why soooo slow, will things speed up, what can I do, ohhh btw im in the northeast region.

Things are a bit slower outdoors man. You can't feed them 18 or 24 hours of light like and indoor grow. Being in the Northeast could play a roll considering how cool your early/mid spring is. I'll tell you though, San Diego is known for May Gray and June Gloom. We only get wide open sun for those two months for just a few hours a day. The rest is cloud covered shit. But it's till 70 degress :bigjoint:

Once things really warm up and that plant roots she's gonna take off dude. You have all summer to veg so just smoke a doob and eat some sour patch kids :mrgreen:

April 26th he looked a little bigger than your average clone. Check out what he looked like on June 6th (7 weeks?) later.

All outdoor, all MG soil and organic nutes cycled with plain waterings.

Alright here some pics just to show uses what i mean. Ok in the first pic its one of my plants in the organic potting soil and the secound and third pic its the one in miracle grow and in the last pic its just another one in the organic soil. Hope this will give everyone a better idea.

I've had a 50/50 sucess rate with MG potting mix this year. 5 of 10 NL are flourishing and 2 of 5 Swiss Cheese are doing well. Next time I'm going organic all the way.
They look the same as mine which we planted around the same time...5 weeks this weekend.

i use kelloggs potting mix, it comes with chicken manure, bat guano, worm castings. and it is organic. i like to put peat on top to stop manure burn

Normal is different for different plants and conditions. I wouldnt worry so much about the growth this early. The plants LOOK healthy and that is what is important early on. Like DubsFan says, once those things get a healthy root system goin then most likely your gonna see them take off.

I went to home depot and got MG moisture control and that organic orange bag one.

mixed the 2 together and had great results.

however, i did sprout the seed in a 2 year old soil. turned out to be a female and all that,

but, after i transplanted into MG MC and that orange bag mix, I want to say I had great results in my own experience.



Now, this time for my 2nd round, i got the MG MC again and the orange bag organic, and perlite, and peat moss, hoping to have some luck and start them in that.

g13 labs freebie quicksilver auto looks to be doing okay so far.......

I cant say how long the time release fertz take to activate, but I bet by a week it will hit the seedling roots, do hope she pulls thru.

I heard those 2 lower low low leaves in the beginning of the life cycle holds all the nutes a seedling needs to start its life, I heard overwatering the young will lock out these beneficial nutes these leaves provide.

Saran wrapped, been simply misting very lightly.

Sprouted, and looking green.

I think if you can eliminate alot of those lil yellow balls in the MG soil mix, i think thats the fertz in tha soil.

The pic is my first ever. Im very proud of the choices I made, and the hype I stayed away from. With great help from rollitup crew.
