Mites!!?

Hey Guys and Gals,

Was looking @ my clones last night, and noticed little (very very small) bugs crawling around in the cups, i mean by the dozens!!

Sorry no pictures, but they looked like spider mites to me. No damage to my clones leaves, but there were so many i freeked!!

Read a little, should have read more....But i used a 50/50 alcohol and drenched them down to hopefully kill the fuckers, but in the process, i killed the clones too i think.... After this heavy water, I removed the humidity domes. Which had already been taken off 2 days prior. They are under small LED panels. Temps stay around 79.

Since then, I misted and put the domes back on.

They are wilted over and the taller ones bascially folded over on themselves.

Worth saving? I can still take more clones, so im not worried that bad.

I've also noticed small brown specs on, ONLY 1 of 4, of my girls in flower, Thats what made me start this close inspection.

Did i kill the clones?

Hi, since noone else has replied Ill try and help ya out. From what you described you have/had mites. I aint never hear anything about the 50/50 alcohol mix so I cant really comment on the affect of using this to kill mites.
As far as your clones recovering it is so difficult to tell without at least a couple of pictures to see what state they are in now. With that said if they are folded over on themselves then I would have to say that they are probably not going to make it through their journey.
If they are still perked up then maybe they will make it. If you only have a few clones then Id say trash em and start over. What I have larned is that it is by far less expensive to make all your mistakes when they are clones.
Another helpful thing to do is dip your clones even if the person you got them from guarantees them to be mite free.
I hope this helps you out some.

Thanks curious, yeah i pulled the plug on them. Gonna take more sunday and go from there again. Still keeping an eye on my girls though. no sign yet, except the brown spots, which is most likely light burn.

shouldve used some good insect controller....

Its good to research a good one for your needs (hydro/organic/chemical/etc...)

and then keep a bottle around just incase.

and you gotta make sure that your growing area is 100% airtight. With all intakes/exhausts thoroughly filtered/screened.

That will keep them out.

Yes, I will be using insect control on a weekly or more basis on my next grow, no matter if they are present or not.

I have animals, so i would imagine they could have brought them in. Or, maybe I did, OR they were in the soil. They could have possibly been gnats, but they sure looked like the pics of spider mites that have been posted. They were very active and moved a lot, in the damp soil.

I need to filter my intakes, somehow. I have 9 - 1" holes on the floor, of which 4-6 are active since pots cover the others.

As of right now, my girls appear to be ok, I do not see any bugs and i've been on the lookout. I think my only issue now is, they are ~40 days into flower.

Don't pour alcohol on the plants. I don't think it's going to make it. If your plants are wilting continuously, that's the cue that it's not going to survive.

A good filtering material is "HEPA" fabric...

Its found in the Filter/air purification area of your local hardware/home improvement store.

Its a pretty dense tangle of fibres...but it will stop all dust and most household pests.

Just staple it down good enough so theres no gaps.

Its dense, so it will constrict your airflow...but only maybe about 2-10% of your airflow...depending on how your area is setup.
