Mitt Romney on medical Marijuana

I dont think he is allowed to have an official opinion...think about it. If he says "yay" he loses the next election as all republicans will use it against him as "drugs are evil". If he says "nay" he loses all the democrats/independents who voted him into office.
Not true.

Ron Paul is technically a Republican, and he's pro medical marijuana.

Whether or not he's "really" a Republican is debatable (he's also run for office as a Libertarian in the past), but in practice, it makes no difference. He's not getting the Republican nomination for President, and he's old enough that his window of opportunity for running again is closing fast.

But much more to the point, Chris Christie, Republican governor of NJ, is *highly* popular among the Tea Party and Republican base (they're not the same) and he just signed onto medical marijuana in the State of NJ.

So its not fair to say that "every" Republican is anti cannabis, or virulently so.

Newt Gingrich actually used to be pro-medical marijuana, and way back in the early 1980s he actually sponsored an early medical MJ bill! Of course he's done a polar 180 in that time, and is now against it, but the thought was there. . .once (kind of like Obama!).

Romney is a coward and an idiot, so no it's not weird that he is for synthetic garbage, and against a natural plant.

Hopefully, any one of his 5 sons will be killed before they get into politics, as their father has taught them all pretty well, as how to be a scathing scumbag.
Such a charming fellow you are.

Anyone else you'd like to see die?

By the way, have you ever heard the expression "Only Nixon could go to China"?

It is weird that he is OK with synthetic marijuana, but against it in it's natural form. I also think he should have treated this medical marijuana patient better.
That is weird and I agree he didn't treat that patient well. But let me clear this up a bit.

Mitt Romney, is not any more. . .or less, anti-marijuana than W Bush, Clinton, H Bush, etc.

Obama is sort of a "special case" in that he tolerated medical marijuana for a SHORT WHILE, before flip-flopping on that issue. But he has made ZERO move towards decriminalization on a Federal level, or DEA reclassification, and he's not going to. It also seems perfectly plain to me that if he's lucky enough to get re-elected (and my money is on NOT), he's not going to spend any political capital trying to change national cannabis policy. That's over, and what we had ending last year was probably as good as it will ever get under Obama.

More to the point, if you're looking to the US President to change the countries Federal marijuana policy, you're looking in the wrong place. The job of the POTUS is to enforce the law, not to write the law. Even if Obama *WANTED* to legalize cannabis tomorrow, he CAN'T do so, because he lacks the legal authority.

Its the CONGRESS that banned cannabis, and its the CONGRESS (and only the Congress) that can reverse that ban.

As a matter of political reality, there is ZERO CHANCE that the US Congress is going to decriminalize cannabis on a Federal level, before it happens in at LEAST a majority of States first.

If the highly liberal, highly pro-pot State of California couldn't legalize marijuana by popular vote just two years ago, then why on earth does anyone think that a coalition majority of OTHER states, including socially conservative ones like Alabama, Texas, Georgia, etc, is going to pull it off? Right now, Federal legalization of cannabis is just "cuckoo talk".

Like gay marriage and lots of these "social" issues, the way cannabis policy is going to be changed NATIONALLY, is with drip-by-drip slow changes on State levels first.

I think there would have to be at least 10-15 states with good working decriminalization models in place before we could even have a serious national debate on Federal cannabis de-regulation.

Rant over.

Romney getting the GOP nomination will almost guarantee Obama a second term.......
Romney has the GOP nomination sewed up already, and I disagree.

Obama is running on an absolutely dreadful economic and foreign policy record, and these things will not get meaningfully better over the next six months.

Of course he could still win re-election, but by no means does he have a "lock" on the fall election.

I do believe we are getting closer to a point where the feds will let the states decide and if a state is legal they will back off.

fat fuck Christie had nothing to do with medical marijuana in N.J ,that law was signed and passed before he became govenor. It passed in 2009 and still not 1 patient receives it because fat fuck has done everything in his power to stop it,Endless regulation and red tape ,limiting thc content to 12% ,was his brilliant contribution to the law, patients can't grow their own ,Jersey mm law is a fucking travesty of the american justice system, passed by nj congress ,signed into law by corrupt govenor corzine( mf global) but still ,going on 4 years later no mm.

Ron Paul is pretty much out, as cool as his take on MMJ is his polices would work in today's society and it would take an all out Civil War in the United States for his shit to work.

I don't think Romney is going to interfere with medical marijuana. Those are state laws.
Oh I'm sure he would NEVER interfere . That would mean that he was pandering to the big pharmaceutical companies, and all they did was give him a big chunk of money. He has already said that he thinks that medical users should be content with the synthetic version, and who is it that makes it??? Dream on.

I agree Romney is a fag, but you forget that Obama said he wouldn't have the feds mingle in any MMJ affairs. Wait a tick, what happened in Cali? What is happening all over the US, including AZ and OR? That's right, Comp Clubs are being raided, shut down, and then prosecuted by the DEA, a federal agency. At least Romney can still prove he isn't a lying asswipe. Obama can go screw himself for being a hypocritical, flip-flopping, money laundering, ignorant, moronic, socialist, prick.

Anyone who spends 3++ trillion of mine and your tax money, to help bailout the banks, for which he later prosecuted many CEOs and owners, and take a 90Million $$$ Bank Of America New Years Party, while lying straight to our faces, needs to be kicked out, if not prosecuted himself. I agree Romney sucks, and I'm not voting for him either, but, Obama is worse, and it's proven.

You DONT have to vote Red or Blue. I voted for myself last term, as I will most likely again with our unworthy nominees. A little food for thought
