airstone will cause your nutrients to separate and drop out of solution. YOu should look into a wavemaker instead of a circulating pump.

Doesnt the 550 do the same thing as the wavemaker?Ive heard that before about the air stone too. Preach to me bruh, I'm all ears.

I have the tube like aft under the water making a pretty good stir EC staying stable til empty & no funky smell.

Airstones are great for plain water but once you mix nutrients in you don't want to use them because they will cause the solution to cloud up and result in lockout of nutrients. The surface tension of the water is what oxygenates it not bubbles. Just stirring the water is helping add oxygen in as well as watering using rainhead watering cans or wands.

Airstone hoses suck. A pump works, but it creates more heat than a wave maker. I use a wave maker, but there are dead spots where the nutrients collect while mixing. I'm using dry salts though.
When I first started growing I was mixing in a bunch of 5 gallon water cooler jugs. It was a headache because of the narrow lip, so I invented a mixing rod that could fit down inside by attaching an arrow into a hand drill and using zip ties as the blades on the rubber fletching side. If a zip tie breaks I just throw another on it. I started with kids arrows, but upgraded to adult arrows once I bought a 30 gallon res. It works great.

I use a 55 gallon tank. A cheap Drummond pump, some PVC, a Y connector, and some hose for recirculation, and you're all set.

I'm using the y connector on a valve as a pressure relief/regulator. Was previously using a 1/3 hp but sized down for now at new location.
