Modding Your Growlight - Fan Speed Control & Temperature display

When i got my LED grow light and turned it on, I was chocked to hear the noise
coming from the fans running at full speed, even if the unit was not hot yet
and the temperature of the room was 70°F.

I have to be in the same room almost. So i quickly installed at cheap fanmate2 12V regulator(8$)
to control the speed and noise level, drilling a hole just big enough so the adjustment pin to
be turned and still is holding the regulator firm.

In addition to the fan control I bought some small sticky-tape heat-sinks and a temperature display(15$) with a sensor on a wire
to be placed on the LED heat-sink.

What a mess, you know it's cheat shit when they don't even use small plastic strips to bundle the wires
and the wires them self is not long enough to be bundled together.

Installing the temperature display:
Making a drilling teacher - don't know what's called in English.

Drilling:

After a good deal of "filling"(another word I don't know in english) it pops in.

The display is using +5V and the fan psu is 12V so I'm using a old car to usb charger to supply the display, in the lack off
a 7805 voltage regulator.

Fitting the heat sinks and sensor(Not my clump of silicone glue)

The LED temperature on default full fan speed was about 38°C(100°F) and with
the speed adjusted to noise level that are tolerable and with the small heat-sinks fitted it's about 42°C(107°F) so I'm happy.

Anyone else been modding there grow light ? ,I did a search for "modding" it returned empty.
Or am I a contender for the 2012 price in the category 'best cheap ass Led grow light modding' :bigjoint:

Looks Great, Yeh I have done some Mod experiments myself I can even Help You crank up your LED light if you want....as long as cooling is good and temps stay fine. I have put better fans and liquid cooling heatsinks on them too. Let me know if your interested.
