Molasses & hydroponic use

I have used Molasses with great success in coco for some time. I now use the Cap Monster ebb and grow flood system. I chose this system since I do not want any small parts getting clogged, its a very simple and effective system.

I was wondering if anyone uses a system such as this or a DWC system with regular use of Molasses.

The plants can absorb a small amount of sugars from the roots so naturally will contribute to a sweeter yield but mostly it is also too feed the microbial life in soil and maintain a healthy root system in soil.

Since I use a sterile water system with regular use of H202 Im not sure if molasses would give the same benefits or build up.

Would love some reviews or feedback from anyone who has used molasses in a similar set up.

Molasses without bennies will only pollute the water and tempt pathogens. There are hydro sweeteners available that are already broken down and ready for roots. You may want to look into those.

Thanks Heisenberg. I have used AN budcandy in the past. But its a $200 bottle of sugar cane water imo... The molasses has all sorts of micro nutrients and minerals. My resin production on the same strain I used the bud candy on raised considerably. I knew right then Molasses is the real deal.

I may do a run with and without and journal it for future reference.

I use it in both DWC and Hempy, But to be honest with you I dont think it really sweetens the bud at all, or gives me any noticable benefits. Now thats not to say something is happening with using it in hydro, I just dont really notice it, and wont be using it in the future. I have also tried using like triple the amount on some plants, and still have not seen any benefit or draw back for that matter. Just my personal experience, and that experience is pretty limited, but figured I would still share my experiences with molasas with you. I also have the HI Brix brand, and it specifically states for hydro or soil. I thought the molasas would really be bad in my hempy's, getting all the perlite all sticky and what not, but I have not seen it at all.

Me too I am just trying to use up my bottle lol. The guy at the hydro store sold me it at the very beginning along with other stuff!!! I really am suspect of any additives and have had great luck with just the nutes IMO. But have not tried any of the other finishing additives.

I never really used Molasses as a finisher. After the first week when the little pistolets start to show I will blast it with a PK booster for a week. After that week I use about half a teaspoon per gallon, mix it well then add to rez before watering all the way through to end.

Have you done a grow without using any additives and did you notice a difference? I would love to use some kind of boost but have no ideal what works. I have read many different ideals re: additives but no set in stone "yes this works, it added 30% more". I have read that using a carb makes it burn harsh as well.

I'm curios about using molasses in my hydro bubbler, also.
I have used it in soil (outdoors) for some time, and it is incredibly beneficial for your soil, both as an amendment and an additive. I use it in the spring when I prep my soil. At the feed store here, I get the granulated aggricultural grade, and use it for the prep in the spring. That will stay with you for a month or two, and really helps the microbial grwth in your soil, and doesn't seem to attract ants. After about 3-4weeks into flower, I use the horticultural grade liquid @ 3 Tbs per gal about every 2-3 feedings, and it can make a huge difference in the yield!
Everything that lives requires carbohydrates to produce energy- for everything- all the way down to cell reproduction. Cannibas is no different.
Sugars that can be quickly and easily metabolized, can (will) add both weight and bulk to your buds. Horticultural grade liquid backstrap molassis provides these types of carbs, and I have noticed noteworthy differences in my plants at harvest.
I have never found it to add any flavor- whatsoever.
It can attract ants, though not as bad as I expected. It's not sweet (I don't think it is, it's nasty) and seems to leech into the soil quickly enough or something, but doesn't seem to attract them as you might think.
But, because of the questionable bacteria thing in a hydro gro, I'm very leary of it.
Interesting.

Fack molasses! It cloggs up fast in my ebb n flow hydro scroggs. I like to use agave nectar and I flush with coconut water, but I also flush for 20 days . I did a side by side experiment and the same strains were used, feeding etc...I did notice that my sweetened cropp was better tasting and resin outputs were noticeably higher. Try agave nectar its 10 times sweeter than molasses and didnt clogg u p as much in my res. Hope I answered your question in some way.
