molasses to use or not to use

hay guys im 28 days into flower and was wondering about the advantages of using molasses. im currently feeding with the full flora series (gro, micro, bloom, floralicous plus, flora blend liquid kool bloom) will i even see any benifit from using? how much and any perticular kind of molasses? thanks

Unsulphured blackstrap molasses is what you want to use. available at most grocery stores.

I use it...not sure if it really does anything...but I use organics so the added carbohydrates help feed the microorganisms...

My buds always come out tasty too. So its your call really. Maybe try it on one plant and see what you think?

molasses feeds the "soil" or the microbes in the soil. If you dont do soil i would say the benefits are minimal. My guess is one of your foods is probably full of molasses or carbs. They say to only use unsulphured blackstrap molasses, all molasses is close to the same, its just the unsuphured has a lil more nute content. Molasses is a very overated food for mj but if used in the right doses and used with somewhat of a understanding then it can be very useful to have around.
(look at your ingredients on your nutes and i bet one or more of them have molasses or another source of sugar in um)

I used the unsulphured blackstrap for the first time last harvest in soil, and I must say... I liked it alot :)

Made my bud way more stickier..You should see my mason jars! Sweeeet!

Here's the thing about molasses.

First of all make sure that you get unsulphured molasses. You plants won't like the sulphured kind.

If you're growing hydro, then don't use it. There are hydroponic forms of molasses as well and they have been processes enough for the plants to use, and won't gum up your system.

For molasses to be effective you have to use it for an extended period of time. The "last 2 week of flowering to fatted up buds" thing does very little for your plants as it only has a short time for the microbes to do their job and the plant to absorb enough of the sugars to work to their full potential. Plus it has a great deal of trace minerals that are great for the health of your plant.

It's meant to feed the micro-organisms is your soil. Your plant is going to have to have things like this broken down by the microbes in the soil before it can take it up as food.

If you use it at least throughout the flowering period you'll have better success.

I use it all the way from start until about a week before harvest.

I recommend molasses as it does work very well to improve the overall health of plants.

Good luck.

It will make your buds nice and sweet and feed the soil as many brothers have already mentioned.

I use it from start to finish always and all of my other plants love it too......especially my bannana Perennial Trees.

Pure Cane Sugar will do the same and they love it too.

Molasses is all the good stuff in sugar, before man refines it and sends it too the stores to slowly kill the ignorant. LOL

I use two to four tblspoons....however I use really big pots.

Enjoy and Be Blessed in your Grow,

Flora blend: "We take a diverse mixture of highly bioactive microorganisms and feed them a feast of select food sources in a hyper oxygenated environment. These beneficial microorganisms multiply consuming these food sources and through bioconversion processes new organic compounds are formed. These highly soluble organic compounds increase and promote healthy root structures, build the plants immune system and provide carbon building blocks for plant processes responsible for color and flavor of fruits and vegetables."

between that and the floralicous you have all the mollasses u need! This shit even has the bugs in it. the extra mollasses will not help, if you are using the flora blend/licious. I also hear that high numbers of P will kill the microbes, and i know a build up of salt will kill them........so be carful with your chemical foods, not to let the salts build up. Microbes can handle in-organic foods but not the salt that builds from them. (just try to make sure and only feed them what they will eat.)

I've also read that the molasses has a tendency to cause more of the nutrients that are sitting in your soil to be pulled up into the plants faster.

Maybe it makes them stickier? :-?

So how do you go about adding molasses? you just mix a tablespoon into a gallon of water?

I take a gallon jug, pour a little onto a sauce pan where I heat the water to the point that it desolves the molasses. Then I pour that back into the jug, shake a bit and presto!

Note that you do not have to heat the very much.

This is kinda true. (not the sticky part though) The molasses will feed the microbes ......and in a good environment, the microbes will multiply and thus be able to eat more organic matter (plant food) and what they shit out is broken down and readily available to the plant. The OM organic matter sitting in your dirt cannot be used by the plants until the microbes shit it out.
If you use synthetic food then it is already broken down to a "chemical" form that the plants can use right now, and does not need microbes to do its job.
Basically, if you dont have OM in your soil then the molasses wont help. Its best when used with things like blood, bone meal and other organic matter. Almost every company that sells liquid organic food will have a molasses product in their lineup.

Well i dont have the hands on to answer this one. What medium do u use? If you are using completely in-organic food , i would say no your plants probably wont benefit from it. I really dont think it will hurt and might even provide some trace elements, but i would not use a tbsp to every single gallon. maybe just a tsp per gallon. My guess is that it could be as bad as using any food heavy, and might even cause its own salt build up , but i am not sure. I just know that all these years they been sayin that it makes the flowers bigger , with more resin is a lie.
My opinion is if you are using a inert medium like perlite, red rock, rockwool, ect... and using all inorganic foods then the mollasses is gonna have little to no benefit. (i think peat moss and coco should be in the "inert" catagory too, but i have seen peat moss w/molasses with a microscope and there was alot of microbe activity, but my hands on tells me that peat moss and organics dont mix)

any source of carbs will feed the bugs even white sugar , but it has been refined so much that all the good trace elements are not present in white or regular sugars.
I love bugs :weed:
