Well as far as the research being up to date,You probably got me on that, but only because everyone tells everyone not to do it.So what kind of research do you have if noone uses it.I learned how to grow in water from a older guy who used to grow large quantities and he past his recipe to me.Like i said 4 grows and not dissapointed in the least bit,But when i tried to tweek the recipe by using chem. instead of organic carbs there is a definate difference in the bud size and quantity. When using molasses in hydro its for the benefit of the sugars not neccesarilly for michrobes. The sugars are what are going to thicken up your stalk and root mass as well as give you awsome trichome production. So with a thicker stalk and root mass you can deliver more nutes to the plant during veg all the way to harvest. There is no other chemical substitute for molasses,at least not yet that can compare with the real thing.Basically all im saying is dont knock it if you havent tried it.And this is only my opinion from experience.
