Molasses?

I keep reading of people using molasses..I am guessing you use this in the flowering stage... How do you apply such a thing?

I would guess you dissolve a spoon full in water whenever you give your plants bloom nutes..I could be wrong just started using the stuff

many add molasses to water, then feed it to the plant
others allow the water/molasses to ferment for a while, this is 'molasses tea' and is a bit better way to use it

Hi Friend, Molasses is used as a additive in dilute amounts at the end of flowering stage to add 'sweet' flavor to the bud.
Depending on the method of growing you are using i.e. Soil, hydo, or NFT the molasses will inteact in different ways, sometimes not so great.
Example: A friend used the NFT (nutrient film technique) i. e. bare roots suspended in a tube and irrigated with a regular misting.
He tried trace amounts of Molasses diluted in the nutrient mix and ended up feeding the bacteria and molds instead of the plants. His roots rotted off, total loss.
Soil is where I've heard of successes. Still very dilute amounts. The soil contains organisms that when fed sugars will help release even more of the bound up nutrients contained in the soil (Jerry baker is a big proponent of this).
I find (hydroponicly speaking), IMHO that simply using a very dilute mix of your flower nutrients is a great way to finish the buds flowering stage. The natural sweetness of the flowers is easy to taste. Using a vaporizer makes it even sweeter tasting. Skip the molasses & sugar. It's not that good for your kids so why give it to your plants? Go ORGANIC! Happy Gardening! Best wishes, GrowIT!:weed:

What are the benefits. I like organics. I would think this would be an organic fert. Whats in the stuff, I know you use it for baking and such.

someone posted this info above, 'it promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria, this in turn increases the release of nutrients that were part of the soil', molasses works best with organic soils, also has a fair bit of potasium which is good during flower

It is unrefined sugar, none of the good bits taken out. Were you to feed your plant refined sugar all it would do is attract bugs.

It increases nute uptake, it sweetens up the final smoke and can fatten up the buds. Some people use it through veg too for the benefits it has for the soil. I use it as well as biobiz bloom and topmax.

1 tablespoon blackstrap unsulphered molasses dissolved in one gallon of water. I heat up 2 cups of water in the microwave and dissolve it in there then add it to a larger Gallon of water lukewarm. Then add it every 4 feedings or so by itself during the flowering period . Subcool uses it like every 5-6 feedings I think (find his thread on it or check the grow FAQ'a. You will see crytsals form between 24 and 48 hours after feeding. It makes a big difference. You should stop giving anything but water in the last week so the plant can clear out nad it will cure properly that way. I've found it doesn't cure as well if ou feed it any kind of nutes too close to the end.

Fuck why not? I thought about blending up some skittles and a sugar daddy, mixing it together and adding a teaspoon to my watering

It's cheap, it's easy and it works!!! I've only harvested two plants and they could actually come off the line and smoke without a cough. I think it takes the place of a long cure. The leaves I've got from it, same thing. None of it is harsh. Whether it would be harsh w/o the molasses, I don't know. But it's got the nutes of potash which is used in the flowering stage, only it's pure and organic. I use it last three weeks of flower (am using it outside now) and I can see the buds swell from day to day. I add it to their food with regular nutes (Schultz 10-15-10 daily) once a week. I just use PH'd hot water and stir it in and add to regular mix. Would not use in hydro, though. Good luck.

Fuck, you guys are operating on old info, molassas? Screw that, I used that stuff when I lived next to Fred Flinstone. I hear the best thing to do is call up Pizza hut and order about 14 party size pizza's with Bacon strips (marijuana prefers bacon over pepperoni), Hot peppers, green olives and onions. Next step is to grind it all up as fine as possible, add 7 drops of pepsi cola and feed directly to the plant.

You should see the buds that grow on these plants... the size of cantaloupes!
