No, beneficial microbes need oxygen to flourish. They could be present in a sealed container, but they won't out-compete anaerobic microbes. Once you introduce oxygen the aerobic bacteria will overcome the anaerobic microbes.

This is why Grease Monkey said to lay the soil out on a tarp and wet it down with an aerated compost tea (beneficial microbes).

Easier yes. But your ladies are going to direct more energy to re-establishing root balls and you will get stunted growth and usually water problems because she won't ever be able to drink that pot dry
 
I can get really good bud for good price where I live honestly unless you have a large grow and you buy soil and nutrients in bulk then its not really worth it since my lighting sucks anyways
 
Smoking on some Darth Vader I have never grown bud this good in my life

I will beg to differ! Even with a single 400w hps anyone can push out some really good yields. 8-10plus ozs. And if you are open to a different approach than the nutreint line hydro store mentalities it can be very cheap And AMAZING quality. Hey reusing soil forever is a nice bonus. Zero bottled nutrients is the frosting on the cake. I guess i would be considered a medium size grow. 3600w. And I tell you what it is MUCH simpler and cheaper to do a small closet grow. no Heating/cooling to worry about. no light controllers, inline fans, et. But I will never be able say its not worth it to grow on a small scale. if you smoke buds, than it will always be worth it! So update your lighting. look into ammended living soil, and quit quiting. nobody likes a quiter anyway ! lol

^^^ This! I'm a new grower myself, and no doubt it's a bit of work.... But SO much more rewarding than shelling out bucks for questionable herb... No matter how good it looks, you never know what's there.

My first indoor harvest was right on par/better than what I was getting at dispensary.. And will only get better from there. I just cannot believe that it could ever be more economical to buy... Unless your friends with a grower that's giving it to you, then yeah. My first stab at it with a 600w was about 380-390 grams of dank. Not great yield for sure, but I MOST DEFINITELY spent a hell of lot less on the grow op than I would to buy that much anywhere. Get back at it dude! Or not... To each their own I suppose. Let me break my last scenario down for you guys...clones at my local dispensary are $10...or if I would to order good quality seeds they are also $10 a piece. Unless I have a mother plant for only clones I cant take clones nor do I have any friends or anyone to hook me up with clones. My little grow tent can handle up to 6 clones...

6 clones - $60
Good soil for grow $20
Good nutrients - $20
Electricity for lighting $20 a month ( 3 month grow so $60 )
Total = $160

Since I'm running a CFL my bud quality isn't as high as the dispensary bud with HPS lighting.
Oz of good weed at my dispensary under HPS $175

Say I were to run HPS like you guys are saying....the power bill would be up to $50-$80 a month..... $240 to produce an oz of middle shelf bud.

If legalization kicks in, Cannabis will be grown everywhere so bud will be even cheaper than it is now. From a financial standpoint, it doesn't make sense to me. Some areas you can't even find bud so you have no choice but to grow.

it's difficult to grow dispensary-quality bud with cfls.
You should be able to stick at least a 400w setup in there, and then your overhead won't be much, a novice grower could pull down a qp on a 400 w setup, four plants an oz a piece, no problem.
And don't take this the wrong way man, that picture of the darth vader?
well, you can do better than that, no problem.
Don't give up, nothing in life is easy.
If you want it bad enough, and if you want to grow better stuff than any dispensary, keep at it.
Genetics are where you want to concentrate, then a good 400w HPS or broad spectrum MH
 
The tent I have the maximum they recommend is 250w or you can burn the house down. There is a 250w MH and HPS setups, I can get a setup for around $80. The power bill will be higher. It is cooler in my house now so I may be able to pull it off. I was thinking about just growing one big azz plant, so that way I save on the clones. It would take a month longer to grow but I can grow one big plant and monster crop it the grow would take 4-5 months but I estimate a 1/4 lb yield.

How are you growing a LB of BUD on a 600w lamp for $240? That's impressive
